Wei Wei finally learns that Nai He is Nai (hahaha. Poor girl), and her friends are shocked at the relationship. Yi Ran maintains her delusions that she has a chance with Nai until he makes quite the public declaration, leaving everyone shocked at the new development.
Top 10 Moments:
- Wei Wei’s friends think she’s heading to an interview (oh she’s getting interviewed all right. For the position of being Nai’s girlfriend. Hehehe)
Although well aware that she looks glamorous in the red dress, Wei Wei pushes for a more conservative option. She’s so careful about her choice that her friends wonder what she’s getting dressed up for, and she tells them that she has an interview after their test is done. They assume she’s interviewing at a company, but when Wei Wei refuses to wear heels, for fear of being too tall, they wonder why she’s so concerned about towering over her interviewer. They finally leave the store with Wei Wei’s purchased outfits, unaware that they’ve been spotted by Yi Ran and Nana. Nana suggests that she and Yi Ran shop at the store as well, but Yi Ran’s in full snobbish glory as she declares that the place’s too cheap, and Wei Wei shopping there, has chosen the class she belongs to. Nana meanwhile, sadly looks down at her dress (poor girl. She probably bought the dress right at that very same shop as well).
2. Wei Wei and Nai finally meet (awwww. And it’s so similar to the bridge where they’d first met in the game)
Wei Wei finishes her exam twenty minutes earlier (well, Nai He’s a suitable inspiration), and heads to the agreed meeting spot. She’s all smiles at the thought of finally meeting Nai He, and wonders if per chance he’s as nervous as she is at the moment. Shortly after she gets to the spot, she sees Nai take up position beneath the willow tree. She’s surprised to see him there, especially as she wonders who has the power to make him wait (hahaha. Oh sweetie, you have no idea). She then notices Nai staring at her, and wonders if maybe he’s doing so because he heard that she’s a computer science major. She’s all up for that explanation and psychs herself up to go say hi to him as a junior greeting a senior (she’s so cute :D). And so, she runs to meet him and smiles as she states that it’s a coincidence meeting him. But Nai says nothing and she internally berates herself for the cold shoulder she’s now receiving. But then Nai finally speaks and tells her that no, it isn’t a coincidence; she’s the one he’s been waiting for. She connects the dots and asks him if he’s Nai He, and when he confirms it, she takes a couple of steps back in shock as she tries to process that Nai He and Nai are the exact same person. Nai however merely suggests they go and eat and when Wei Wei has a moment when she wonders if the real Nai He would show up after they’ve left (hahahaha), he shocks her some more when he calls her by name and asks if she likes fish.
3. Nai and Wei Wei have their very first date (awwwww)
When they get to the restaurant, the woman who owns it spends quite a while smiling at Wei Wei (hehehe. If I was her, I would be smiling at Wei Wei too), and leaves only after Nai wiggles his thumb at her. Nai explains to Wei Wei that the woman doesn’t speak, but is a great cook, and he’d spent his growing years at her restaurant, eating her food (awwww. He took her to meet his surrogate mother. How cute). Wei Wei mentions taking his father’s archeology class and that they’d sat next to each other. Nai’s all casual about him being aware of that (hahaha. Wei Wei’s internal monologue about what he means by that is so cute) and he brings up how boring the class can be. Of course, when Wei Wei replies that she actually finds it fascinating, he doesn’t believe her (dude, she really does like that class!). They then spend the rest of the date in silence, with Wei Wei speculating to herself that Nai’s a bit more distant, as opposed to Nai He. She ascribes his silence to him growing up in an academic household which doesn’t allow for talking whilst eating. The restaurant owner then brings even more food for Wei Wei to eat, and Nai and Wei Wei share a moment when he teaches her the finger wriggle he uses to thank the woman (so cute!).
4. All hail Nai and his ability to get himself a girlfriend without actually saying the words (hahahaha)
Nai and Wei Wei’s lunch date is interrupted by Ban Shan who calls to ask Nai to come on over for their final seniors basketball game. Nai tries to get out of it by stating that he’s on a date, but this just has Ban Shan insisting that he bring his date along (hehehe). Nai poses the question to Wei Wei, who agrees that they can go to the game, and so Nai heads home to bring his bicycle so they can ride to the gym together. But by the time he gets back and suggests that Wei Wei get on, Wei Wei points out that should she get on, people could easily mistake their relationship, and think they’re dating. Nai’s all smiles as he asks when they weren’t in that kind of relationship (hahaha. Smooth Nai, very smooth). Wei Wei’s all flustered at the thought, and even as she internally squeals, then wonders if she wants to start their relationship like that, she reminds herself that that’s the reason why she had wanted to meet him in the first place. But then, she’s conflicted because she might miss out if she agrees, and miss out if she disagrees. Her best bet? She will just pretend she didn’t hear him, and keep her distance. But she will accept the bike ride because they’re more likely to meet more people if they walk, as opposed to if they bike there (hahahaha. Yeah, keep telling yourself that Wei Wei). As she goes through her internal monologue, Nai smiles and when he wheels over his bicycle, she gets on it.
5. Nothing says “I’m Nai’s girlfriend”, like riding on his bicycle (but don’t tell Wei Wei though. She’s still in denial. Hahahaha)
Nai and Wei Wei’s bicycle ride is the cynosure of all eyes as everyone who comes across them, stops to gape at the sight (hahaha. As expected). Wei Wei though shuffles between hiding her face and keeping her skirt from riding up, and Nai notices. He stops at a supermarket and heads in to buy some things (meaning, passersby are given more of a chance to take pictures of the two of them), and when he gets out, he hands her the package to hold for him. Wei Wei who has to put the package on her thighs during their resumed ride is pleased to see that she doesn’t have to pull on her skirt anymore and Nai smiles to see that (gah! He’s so considerate).
6. Wei Wei’s friends are still of the opinion that she went for an interview (hahahaha. They will be so amazed when they learn the truth)
Although Wei Wei decides during their bicycle ride to give her relationship with Nai a chance (she does like Nai He after all), when they get to the gym, Wei Wei runs on ahead, so they wouldn’t have to go in together (giving it a chance isn’t the same thing as facing all the gossip of entering the gym together. Hehehe), and Nai, who’s very much aware of what she’s doing smiles. Wei Wei meanwhile heads over to sit with her friends, who acknowledge that all the school beauties are gathered for the game. She then offers them the snacks Nai had bought, and while they dig in, they bring up Wei Wei’s interview and ask how it went. Wei Wei replies that the process itself was a failure, but the results were pretty unexpected and Xi points out that none of that matters as long as Wei Wei passes the interview (oh, I think she passed in flying colours. Trust me. Hahahaha).
7. Yi Ran and Nana bring their delusions to the basketball game (pfft)
Nai makes his entrance to the court and sure enough everyone rises, and he’s soon surrounded by a flock of adoring fans. He only has eyes for Wei Wei though, who at first hides her face, but soon drops the bag she’d been holding on to and looks right back at him. He smiles (awwww), but the moment’s broken when Yong Hou and Ban Shan walk up to him, to ask him about the girl he was on a date with. They’re shocked when he tells them that the girl ran away but he nods in Wei Wei’s direction when he tells them that he will go change in preparation for the game. Wei Wei’s aware that the nod’s for her, but Nana’s convinced that he nodded at Yi Ran, because everyone else at the game pales in comparison to her (ha! Girl’s still delusional). She figures that Yi Ran made a good impression when she met with Nai at her uncle’s company, as opposed to Wei Wei who didn’t say anything to Nai when they sat beside each other in his father’s class (hahahaha. So delusional). Wei Wei’s friends meanwhile, are also of the opinion that Nai was staring at Yi Ran and when Wei Wei brings up the fact that he might have been looking at her, they laugh it off (hehehe. I repeat, I’m so looking forward to when they find out).
8. Rumour has it that Wei Wei and Nai aren’t compatible (pfft. What do they know?)
Nai heads to the changing rooms, where Ban Shan and Yong Hou press him about who he was staring at, at the audience stands. They acknowledge that he was looking in the direction of both Yi Ran and Wei Wei and wonder which one of them caught his eye. Nai however, doesn’t say anything (hehehe). Meanwhile, Xi brings up the fact that a popular campus gossip forum had declared that Wei Wei and Nai aren’t compatible because although both are pretty popular, Nai’s waaaaaay out of Wei Wei’s league. Wei Wei gets understandably huffy (hahaha) and her friends have no idea why she’s so angry. But then, she’s all smiles when she asks Xi who the forum found to be most compatible with Nai, and Xi replies that no one was picked.
9. Nai confirms his star basketball status and stars in Wei Wei’s fantasy( Hehehehe)
Nai and the rest of the team come out to play and as they watch the boys warm up, Si Si brings up the rumour that Nai’s just as good at swimming as he is at basketball. This sends Wei Wei into la la land as she imagines Nai in swimming trunks (ooooh la la), and the thought has her hot and bothered; something her friends notice and tease her about (hahahaha). The game then gets underway, and Nai’s the star of the show who keeps making the basket. He’s so impressive that during the timeout, the girls comment on how talented he is and Wei Wei decides that should they end up together, she would have to try harder. This has her rising in a half-formed cheer, but when she notices her friends looking at her like she’s lost her mind, she settles back into her seat (hahahaha. Wei Wei’s so adorable).
10. Nai makes a very public declaration (of course he does it in the cool way that only he can pull off. Hahahaha)
Halftime has Nai sitting out the rest of the game and Ling explains that Da Zhong had told her that not only did Nai want the other substitutes to play, but he is also recovering from his accident. Talk of the accident has Wei Wei worried about whether or not Nai should be playing but when Xi presses her as to what she’s talking about, she doesn’t fill her in. Nai meanwhile gets up from his seat and strolls to the stands, where he stops at Wei Wei’s seat (hahaha. I so sucked in my breath the way she and her friends did) to tell her that he wouldn’t be able to meet her online that night because he and his friends are hanging out. He then fixes a meet for the next morning, and completely ignores how stunned everyone else looks (hahaha. Yi Ran looks like she swallowed something nasty, whilst Ling, Si Si and Xi look like they’ve stopped breathing). And to crown it all, he asks Wei Wei to move a seat down so he can seat right next to her, up in the stands (*sigh*. He’s so perfect).
Character I wanted to bitchslap:
No one in this episode.
Headache inducing moment:
None in this episode.
This episode’s a Sparkling Spiced Winter Sangria, layered and beautiful and sweet. That ending, with Wei Wei having her internal squee moments at the realization that Nai He (the master in the game who she’s grown to like) is the same as Nai (the master in her school who she has a gigantic crush on) was so epic, and Nai’s sweet smiles as he watched her go through the realization was so sweet and screamed how much he was halfway in love with her already. Of course, Wei Wei has no idea of that yet, and I’m looking forward to Nai pursuing her in the exact same way he’d done in the game. And if her look of surprise and hero worship when he slipped into the seat beside her is anything to go by, the ride will be epic.
