Wei Wei finally takes the plunge and agrees to meet Nai (yippee. Who knew we would be grateful for an accident?). Guang decides to get closer to Xi as a means of getting closer to Wei Wei, but still has no idea that the woman he’s been gaming with is Xi and not Wei Wei.
Top 10 Moments:
- Nai’s parents are still of the opinion that Nai doesn’t have a girl (hahaha. If only you guys knew)
Nai’s mother is surprised to hear Mei and Ban Shan refer to a ‘third sister-in-law’. But, before she can press the issue, the doctor returns and she and her husband have to leave. She then brings it up with Nai’s father but he’s convinced that Nai’s too eccentric to consider dating or marrying before he turns 40 (hahaha). Nai’s mother is pretty insistent though, having figured that since the boys refer to Nai as “third bro”, then his girlfriend would be “third sister-in-law”. But when Nai’s father points out that it could as well be a player’s username (close father dearest. Very close), she lets the matter go.
2. Ban Shan decides that he will be Nai’s person for life (sweet, but dude, he already has Wei Wei in that position)
Ban Shan, Yong Hou and Mei head to a restaurant to buy some food to help Nai recover faster. On their way back, Ban Shan is emotional as he declares to his friends that from that moment on, he will be Nai’s person. During the accident, Nai’s concern hadn’t been for himself, but for saving Ban Shan, and although Ban Shan had always thought that Nai’s life is the most valuable, in that moment, Nai had proved that Ban Shan’s life is just as important (awwwww). He tears up as he wonders what would have happened if they’d collided with the truck instead of crashing into a tree, and declares that truly Nai is a master and an amazing person. It was a sentiment he’d not shared when they first met, but now he knows that Nai’s just that selfless. And to that effect, he will make sure to stick with Nai, come hell or high water. His friends comfort him and Mei points out that with Nai, they’re most likely to have fun and make merry than go through suffering. But, most importantly, the position of who would stick with Nai has already been filled by Wei Wei (hahaha. True).
3. Wei Wei’s worried and wishes she knows who Nai He is (awwww)
Xi calls a very distracted Wei Wei over, to come help her defeat a goblin. But, a fight that would usually have led to an easy victory for Wei Wei, ends in Xi being defeated and Xi wonders what’s wrong with her. Wei Wei then asks her if she has any friends in the game. Xi admits that she does but when Wei Wei asks her if she’d ever wanted to meet the friend, she denies it. Wei Wei then continues by asking how Xi would feel if her friend suddenly upped and disappeared and because she knows nothing about this friend, she can’t reach out to him. And should they pass themselves in a crowded street, they wouldn’t even recognize each other. The words clearly get to Xi but she points out that people leave and rejoin the game every day, so much so that it’s a commonality. And so, as Wei Wei watches the bandit and the musician video that she and Nai He had made, she wonders if he too would disappear without a word and if the video would be the only proof she has that they once knew each other. But then, she wonders if she’s blowing things out of proportion and if maybe something just happened to Nai He and that’s why he didn’t show up. All she has to do is log in and she can confirm it for herself. But Wei Wei doesn’t, and just keeps watching the video. When she finds herself crying, she’s surprised to realize that she’s actually depressed, meaning, she’s fallen for Nai He.
4. It’s a waiting game for Wei Wei to log back in
Nai logs back into the game and is informed by Nini about how long Wei Wei had waited for him, and how she’d believed in him till the very last minute. Ban Shan meanwhile informs Nai that everyone had insulted Wei Wei when Nai was a no-show and so he intends to apologize to her whenever she logs on. The friends then wonder if she will ever log on and Yong Hou points out that this might be the ideal time for Nai to meet with Wei Wei. When conversation turns to how Nai will locate her, Mei notices Nai watching the abduction video and is surprised. But the three of them are more surprised when Nai informs them that it’s Wei Wei’s that watching the video. And so, he and Wei Wei spend the entire night watching the abduction video and Nai wonders exactly what it is in the video that’s causing Wei Wei to watch it so many times (*sniff *sniff. It’s because she thinks you aren’t coming back Nai).
5. Guang resorts to buttering Xi up so he can get closer to Wei Wei (hahaha. Dream on dude)
Xi once again sneaks into her class, but this time around, not only has Guang saved her a seat, but he’s also gotten her a yoghurt drink as well. Xi’s understandable distrustful of this turn, and when she tries sitting on the seat, the seat breaks as well (hahahaha. Poor girl). Guang leads her to the infirmary and a suspicious Xi wonders what he’s up to. He finally caves and asks her if she knows Wei Wei and Xi jumps to the conclusion that he’s buttering her up so he can learn about Wei Wei’s whereabouts and take pictures which he would then put online and use to slander Wei Wei. Guang replies that he no longer thinks such of Wei Wei and Xi correctly guesses that he’s doing it because he likes Wei Wei. He smiles bashfully and Xi points out that he should be nicer to her, not because he wants to get into Wei Wei’s good graces, but because he was the one that caused her injury. Guang agrees and Xi demands that he feed her three times a day, until she’s all better. He agrees to that as well.
6. Guang couples up with Xi, thinking she’s Wei Wei (delusional idiot)
Just as promised, Guang shows up at the dorm with breakfast for Xi. Xi correctly guesses that he brought one of the packs for Wei Wei, but states that she wouldn’t play matchmaker for him. Guang then brings up the fact that Wei Wei’s been down in the dumps, but Xi refuses to tell him the reason why. Guang replies that he will find out why and so logs into the game that night to chat up “Wei Wei”, who he has no idea is actually Xi. He asks if Xi has anything that’s bothering her and Xi admits that she wants to fall in love. Guang smiles and then leads Xi to a firefly dance and fireworks display. Xi’s happy, but then wonders why Guang’s making it all romantic. The words have Guang asking if she will couple up with him and Xi happily agrees.
7. Wei Wei’s got seduction on her mind, but her shyness gets the better of her (awwwww. So cute)
After Wei Wei admits to herself her feelings for Nai He, she tells herself that the next step on her plan is pretty easy: log onto the game and set out to seduce the person behind Nai He, and make him hers. After all, they’re both single (hahaha). But then she wonders if she’s being taken over by an alien, hence the reason why she’s having such thoughts, or if it’s just her shyness that’s acting up. It is her shyness because Wei Wei decides not to log in just yet, and figures she will just wait until her exams are over.
8. Wei Wei learns about Nai’s accident
Wei Wei gets a call from the operations manager of Dreaming of Jianghu who calls to inform her that her and Nai’s abduction video won first price for their video contest and not only do they want to incorporate the abduction into the gameplay, but they also want to use the video as their promotional video as well, meaning that they want to buy the copyright for the video. Wei Wei asks for some time so she can contact the other person she made the video with and so logs back into the game (finally!). Nai He immediately tells her to come on over, whilst Old Man Yu messages her to apologize for being the one who was driving and the one responsible for the accident that had occurred on the night of the championship. Wei Wei’s shocked and even more so when she learns that Nai He was unconscious for a day.
9. Wei Wei learns that Nai He’s been waiting for her to log back in (awwww. He’s so cute)
Wei Wei heads straight over to meet Nai He and she’s full of concern as she asks him if he’s alright, and wonders why on earth he’s gaming when he needs to conserve his energy. Nai He replies that he was merely logged on, and not actually playing and Wei Wei’s surprised as she wonders to herself if Nai He’s been waiting for her to log back in all this while. She admits, still to herself that she hadn’t logged back in because at first, she’d been worried that he wouldn’t be back online but then, she had something else to worry about (Hmmmm :). Does this something else have to do with a confession per chance? :D). She then tells Nai He that she hadn’t been able to log in because of her exams, and Nai He tells her that he’s well aware of that.
10. Wei Wei and Nai He agree to meet (finally!!!!!)
Wei Wei then brings up Feng Teng’s offer to buy the copyright to their abduction video and Nai He tells her that it’s a bit complicated, and so they should meet in person to discuss it (yes!!!!!!). He hands over his phone number and a delighted Wei Wei asks where they should meet. She admits that she’s at Qing University and Nai He replies that they can meet at the University. He though, wants to know what time they should meet and when Wei Wei replies that they can meet after her last paper which ends at 11:30, Nai He suggests that they meet at 12. But Wei Wei isn’t willing to even wait for 30 minutes (so cute!) and suggests they make it for 11:35. She squeals at how eager she sounds whilst Nai smiles. After her chat end, she has her friends follow her out to go shopping and comes out of the changing room in a drop dead gorgeous dress (well hello there, Wei Wei. You’re looking good).
Character I wanted to bitchslap:
No one in this episode.
Headache inducing moment:
None in this episode.
This episode’s a Bruleed Grapefruit Bourbon Punch, sweet and mellow and robust and satisfying. I’m thrilled that my prediction in the previous episode came true: the accident served as the turning point needed for Nai and Wei Wei to take their relationship offline and I’m so eager to watch that relationship develop as well. I love how Love O2O has played Wei Wei and Nai He’s relationship so far because it just makes an even stronger second pairing for us watching the drama. The build up, the feelings of longing, the combined strength, and those moments when those two, even though they’re game characters seem to get each other so well. It’s also contributes to my satisfaction in knowing that the game relationship isn’t overpowered by the relationship taking place in the real world.
