Wei Wei continues to prove that she’s the heroine of both ours and Nai’s dreams (girl, you are amazing!). Yi Ran and Guang continue in the way delusional second leads do. Xi makes her first entry into the gaming world and Guang will soon follow after. Of course they’re both doing it for the wrong reasons but only time will tell if it might right itself out in the end.
Top 10 Moments:
- There’s no stopping a pissed off Nai who learns you’ve got your eyes on his girl (hahaha. Poor Guang)
Whilst Guang and Nai engage in a little one-on-one, Nai’s friends place Guang as the foreign language student who is also a top-star student like Nai. But of course, they are well aware that Guang can’t measure up to Nai on the basketball court. And they are right about it because Nai wins the game. But, when he joins his friends and overhears that Guang has his eye on Wei Wei and has been actively pursuing her, he heads back in for another game, darkly telling his friends that he went easy on Guang the first time (ooooh. *Shiver*. Jealous Nai is so sexy). Turns out that he did go easy the first time, because the second time around, Nai completely obliterates Guang on the court and passersby give Nai a resounding applause (hahaha. Poor Guang. But seriously though dude. You brought it on yourself).
2. Apparently, even gaming monsters can be misogynists (yuck!)
Ling and Si Si are filled with joy at the news that Nai is finally moving into the student dorms. They figure it’s a good enough reason for them all to take more frequent walks by the basketball court and Wei Wei and Xi who are already aware of the good news agree. They also fill their friends in on Nai’s rejection of the girl who’d handed him a love note and Xi wonders just which kind of girl will turn out to be Nai’s type (Take a guess. Oh, and here’s one big clue. She’s seated right across from you). The friends then scatter to get some studying done, but Nai He buzzes Wei Wei to come back into the game so she can team up with his team to take down a monster boss. Turns out the monster has a thing for the ladies, so much so that his power reduces when he wants to hit a woman, but increases should the woman pair with a man to fight him. He’s also giving to shameless flirting and when he comes on to Wei Wei, Nai He, Pa Shan, Monkey Wine, Zha Ta and Wei Wei team up to utterly decimate him.
3. Wei Wei decides to enter the video contest and tells the most beautiful story (that’s what I call top quality content people)
Whilst Banshan, Yonghou and Mei chat about how similar Wei Wei and Nai are, Wei Wei and Nai have a private chat where Wei Wei expresses her desire to enter the video contest. She then takes Nai through her concept: a female bandit kidnaps a musician and takes him up to her lair. But the musician is depressed and when the bandit telling him that she’s never killed anyone, and only lives the way she does so she can survive, doesn’t change his mind, she lets him go. But she’s gotten so attached to him that she secretly follows behind him and so when he’s attacked by a monster, she comes to his rescue. She gets injured in the fight, but the musician survives and the two of them get married. But on their wedding day, soldiers storm the bandit’s stronghold and although she defeats them all, she’s stabbed by her husband, who holds her in his arms as she dies (awww. That’s so sad). Moments after her death, we learn that the musician is actually the king, and he’d used himself as bait to destroy the entire thieves guild. When one of the soldiers asks why the king had killed the thief who he could have spared, the king explains that he did it so she wouldn’t feel betrayed and resent him. Wei Wei and Nai then agree to end the story with the king eventually committing suicide so he can be with his beloved (wow. That was some sad story. Brilliant and sad all at once. See that Wu Xiang? That’s what a great love story looks like. Not that crap you did with Enchantress Yu).
4. Wei Wei comes close to discovering Nai’s identity (just a little bit more sweetie. I’m sure you’ll find out soon enough)
The team log in to start recording the video but after Wei Wei makes her abduction dialogue, talk turns to idiomatic speech and Nai’s absence from the dorm and school. Of course, Nai chimes in at this point to tell his friends and roommates that he will be moving back into school (of course you will :). You have a girl you want to romance), and so they need to clean up their acts. The boys immediately put up protests, demanding that Nai stay far away and Wei Wei smiles at the teasing. Their talk also has Wei Wei realizing that Nai He must be a student just like her, and when she remembers the conversation the others had had about hacking into Wu Xiang’s computer, she asks them if they’re computer science majors. The boys confirm it and she informs them that she’s in computer science too. Seeing that Nai is the only one that knows that Lu Wei Wei is Bei Wei Wei, the other boys wonder if she’s a female upperclassman or male (hahaha).
5. Xi makes a debut in Dreaming of Jianghu. But she sucks at it (hahaha)
Xi logs into her account and is welcomed by the wise old man who tries to show her the ropes. She’s amazed at the martial arts one of the players displays in slicing through butterflies and when the old man tells her that she too can do it if she frees herself of all distractions, Xi flies into the air… only to land right back on the ground, without having cut through any butterflies (hahahaha. Poor Xi). She tries a second time, and when she fails yet again, she grumbles at the old man who had told her that she can do it. The old man quickly leaves and Xi is attacked by a hound of angry butterflies (hehehehe. Poor Xi. Girl, you should have had Wei Wei train you for a bit at least). After suffering multiple defeats at the hands of the village monsters, Xi calls out to Wei Wei to help her, telling her to forget about how insistent she had been to play the game on her one. Wei Wei thus takes the front seat and plays the game to show Xi how to defeat the monsters. The monsters are pretty basic and Wei Wei makes defeating look super easy; something Xi is very impressed with (as am I).
6. The second leads prove just how delusional they are
Whilst Wei Wei is playing the game, Guang’s classmate comes into the room with skincare products she has for sale. She uses the opportunity to take a peek at the game Wei Wei’s playing and when she confirms the name of the game, she immediately texts Guang with the information. Guang smiles at the development as he decides that he might have lost the basketball game, but he won’t lose Wei Wei again (hahahaha. Poor delusional Guang). Meanwhile, Yi Ran meets with a woman in HR and asks to look at the list of shortlisted candidates for the internship position at Zhen Yi. The woman who should be fired for such a breach of protocol hands Yi Ran the list and when Yi Ran notices that Wei Wei’s one of the shortlisted candidates, she flashes back to Anna telling her to keep an eye on Wei Wei because Wei Wei also likes Nai. And so Yi Ran tells the woman to drop Wei Wei off the list, as well as Xi, Ling and Si Si (Of course delusional Yi Ran’s still working off the misconception that Nai is interested in working for her uncle *rollseyes*).
7. Nai’s relationship with his parents is one of ease
Nai’s father watches his son play his game for a short while and then invites him to a game of “Go”. Father and son lay out their pieces and Nai’s mother joins them for a brief while to tease her husband about the fact that he doesn’t like losing to his son, which is why he always abandons the game just before he is about to be defeated (hahaha. That’s a smart way to claim the ‘undefeated’ title). After she leaves, Nai’s father brings up Nai’s interest in gaming and asks him why he’s putting his talent towards it. But after his son explains that he’s using the game as a way of enlightening the world on his views (kind of like what his father does, except his father teaches for a living), Nai’s father is onboard. They two start playing and Nai mentions that he will be attending his father’s elective class (which usually has a low turnout) as a way to boost the attendance to his father’s classes (huhn-huhn. And it has nothing to do with you upping your chances of seeing Wei Wei huh?).
8. All hail Nai. Fostering the spirit of learning in students since time immemorial (hahahaha. This is so hilarious)
As promised, Nai shows up at his father’s class and takes a seat right next to Wei Wei (hahaha. I knew it!). Immediately they notice him, the rest of the class begin taking pictures of him whilst Wei Wei has to hide her face behind her text and does some internal screaming of her own (hehehe. She’s so cute). Word soon spreads across campus and soon Nai’s father’s class is filled to the brim (hahaha). Nai’s father is surprised at the turnout and is well aware that it’s not him they came to see in class. So he tosses out a question to test who’s been paying attention in his class. He however picks Wei Wei to answer the question and her response about how the ten discovered medical texts are the most important of the relics because they support archeology’s belief that knowledge from the past can still be used in the present, impresses both him and the rest of the class (Nai inclusive). Nai’s father is impressed and then makes a joke that has Wei Wei smiling. Immediately she notices Nai staring at her though, she gets self-conscious (awwwww. She’s so cute).
9. Wei Wei shares the good news with her friends. But of course they believe she didn’t take full advantage of the situation (and I might have to agree with them on that)
Wei Wei gets back to the room to give her friends the good news: not only did Nai show up to her class, but he also sat right next to her. They squeal at the news and when Xi grumbles that Wei Wei should have told them immediately, Wei Wei reminds them that it was their choice not to take the elective class like she’d suggested they do. This just sets Xi off, as she remembers her class and her horrid encounter with Guang. But when talk turns to Wei Wei’s missing phone and her not being able to take pictures of Nai, her friends wonder if she took advantage of the situation to talk with Nai and see if she’s his type (trust me girls. She is :D). Wei Wei admits that she didn’t but she does intend to do better next time.
10. And so begins the staring at Wei Wei across the room phase (it would be creepy if it wasn’t Nai doing the staring)
Wei Wei walks out of her room with Xi hot on her heels. Xi continues to squeal about Wei Wei’s good fortune and across the road, Guang who notices Xi and Wei Wei wonders if Xi is close to Wei Wei (yeah she is. And your ass was rude and an entitled jerk to one of Wei Wei’s best friends. Sucks to be you). His friend notice Wei Wei carrying a bottle of water and suggest that Guang help her out with it. Guang however shoots down the suggestion and tells them that he has something better planned. We don’t see what it is though because later that night Wei Wei’s at the library and Nai who’s a couple of seats looks up from his computer and notices her.
Character I wanted to bitchslap:
Her! If anything so it would force her to grow a damn backbone. I mean come on! Yi Ran’s a spoilt brat who’s still in university and who is at this point just an intern. This older woman on the other hand is in the HR department. She shouldn’t be blindly following Yi Ran’s instructions like she’s doing at the moment. What the fuck.
Headache inducing moment:
Because nothing makes me yank out my hair like such unprofessional behavior. Like sheesh! Woman, what the fuck are you thinking?
This episode’s a Rosewater and Strawberry Champagne. It’s sweet and light and perfectly harmonious. I loved watching Wei Wei in this episode because she just keeps proving time and again that she’s a heroine to fall in love with. I especially loved her in the classroom scene because in that moment, she showed us so many facets of her personality and how they make her Wei Wei. She was shocked to see Nai and swooned just like the rest of the class (I especially loved seeing her squeal behind her notebook :D). But when the time came for her to speak, she put away all thoughts of Nai and proved that even in the presence of a guy she practically has a case of hero worship for, she can still maintain her presence of mind to be articulate, intelligent and brilliant, even though moments prior, she was swooning just like the rest of the class. It was obvious it further solidified Nai’s interest in her while in my case, it made me fall for her even more.
