Yi Ran finally gets her meeting with Nai, although he is utterly unimpressed with her, nor does he spare her feelings by trying to pretend otherwise (hahahaha. So good). Shao Xiang proves that he’s only surface deep and Guang finally apologizes for being a jerk.
Top 10 Moments:
- Nai certainly knows the way to his girl’s heart
We pick up with Nai He warning Enchantress Yu’s girls off. The girls refuse to budge and Wei Wei suggests a duel between them and she and Nai He. Nai He though figures the girls are small enough for him alone to handle and the girls figure that three against one should be good enough odds (ha! These girls have no idea what they’re getting into). Blood Devil however, regains consciousness and sends the girls off, saying that he won’t endanger them in that way. His loyalty has Wei Wei sparing his life, although she and Nai He still leave him tied with the chains (hahahaha). When alone, Wei Wei calls Nai He by his name: Nai He (progress, she was with Zhen Shui for six months and didn’t even attempt to call him by the less formal Wu Xiang) and thanks him for having taken her mind off her worries, and making her happy. Enchantress Yu’s underlings meanwhile, aren’t very happy and storm off to meet her and Zhen Shui. The couple reminds them that the plan was for them to join Nai He and Wei Wei’s guild (in your dreams buster), and so they have to behave themselves. The girls then bring up a video contest whereby couples can do a short film on their love story and the winning couple gets a huge prize. The girls think that they can tell Enchantress Yu and Zhen Shui’s love story and leave Wei Wei jealous when Enchantress Yu and Zhen Shui win (you guys wish), but Zhen Shui cautions them against it. Enchantress Yu supports him but when he leaves, she and her underlings smirk (urgh! I hope your plan fails).
2. Some families have cockiness in common (either that or obtuseness)
Just as he’d declared earlier, Nai doesn’t show up to fix Yi Ran’s laptop. Yi Ran’s predictably upset about this development and so when her cousin, Shao Xiang calls and asks to take her out to dinner, she refuses to go. But when Anna reminds her that Shao Xiang might possibly have some advice to help with her situation, she agrees to have dinner with him. Over dinner, she tells him everything and when Shao Xiang expresses surprise about her pining for a boy, Yi Ran points out that Nai’s not like everyone else; he is a genius (hence the reason why he’s going to end up with Wei Wei and not you. The boy’s a smart cookie after all). Shao Xiang remembers Nai as the CEO of Zhi Yi technology: the firm his father, CEO Zhen wants to acquire. Shao Xiang takes it as a given that Nai will let himself get bought, as students aren’t known to aspire to much anyway (dude, have you met Nai? The guy’s set to take over the world), and Anna points out should CEO Zhen acquire Zhi Yi, that would mean that Nai would work for Yi Ran’s uncle and if Yi Ran’s able to get an internship at her uncle’s company, she stands a greater chance of ending up with Nai (yeah, cuz you’re so irresistible that all he has to do is come within a couple of feet of you and he will fall. Pshaw). Yi Ran’s delighted at the suggestion and gets Shao Xiang to agree to talk to his dad on her behalf.
3. The girls might just work for CEO Zhen (of course they’re way more qualified than Yi Ran)
Xi brings the girls good news. She’d initially put in herself, Wei Wei, Ling and Si Si for an internship position at CEO Zhen’s company. And amazingly, all of them got called in for an interview. The girls are excited at this good news, although Ling and Xi get into an argument about what to wear for the interview.
4. Yi Ran finally gets her meeting with Nai. Although she’s not too pleased with the encounter
Just as he’d promised, Shao Xiang brings Yi Ran to meet CEO Zhen and to tell CEO Zhen about Yi Ran’s interest in interning with the company. CEO Zhen is at first wary about the impact it would have on her studies, but he finally agrees to it. When Yi Ran overhears that CEO Zhen’s next appointment is with Nai, she insists on starting her internship with her uncle immediately, and sets out to make a cup of tea for her uncle’s guests. She comes in to serve the tea and although Yong Hou recognizes her and is surprised to see her, Nai doesn’t give any reaction to seeing her. A sight which upsets Yi Ran (I repeat, sweetie, you aren’t irresistible. Get over it). The talk is soon underway, and CEO Zhen makes the offer of three million Yuan to buy over Zhi Yi and to have everyone in Zhi Yi work in his company. Yong Hou visibly reacts at the offer, but Nai keeps his cool and merely replies that they will consider the offer and get back to Zhen Yi (CEO Feng’s company). CEO Zhen then asks if Nai attends Quing University, and points out that Yi Ran does as well. Nai briefly looks at her and dismisses her, stating that he’s never seen her before (*standing ovation* You go Nai. Thank you so much for making that encounter worthwhile).
5. Nai’s not selling himself short (And neither is Zhi Yi)
Nai and Yong Hou finally separate from CEO Zhen’s secretary and Yong Hou expresses his displeasure at Zhen Yi’s attempt to cheat them by offering them such paltry sums in order to buy out their company. He also wonders why on earth Nai replied that he would consider their offer instead of just outrightly refusing it and Nai tells him that he lied. Yong Hou also brings up GM Li’s lie that Zhen Yi was coming up with a similar game and correctly guesses that that’s Zhen Yi’s subtle way of telling them that they intend to steal their game ideas. Nai agrees, but he isn’t worried as he figures that this just means that they will have to progress quicker on their game.
6. Yi Ran strikes out yet again (hahaha. It’s just not her day and it so serves her right)
Nai and Yong Hou are just about to leave when Yi Ran comes running in to apologize for her uncle’s behavior and state that she’s willing to try and convince her uncle to agree to Nai’s terms. Nai points out that doing so is inappropriate and leaves and Shao Xiang who caught the tail end of the conversation calls him a poor boy with airs (dude. You’re just a rich boy with no money of his own. Everything you own and are is all thanks to daddy dearest. So shut up!). He points out that Yi Ran’s parents wouldn’t agree to her dating Nai and she insists that she will work on them. What she wants is for Shao Xiang to convince CEO Zhen to agree to Nai’s terms. Shao Xiang replies that he has no control over his father (of course you don’t, you pampered baby) and Yi Ran vows to convince CEO Zhen herself.
7. Xi has an oopsie moment that might have a ripple effect
When Xi hears from another interviewee that the interviewers are curious about whether or not those interviewing for the intern position play any games, she comes running to Wei Wei who calls her roommate and gives each of them an alternate name she has on her server. Xi is then called for an interview and Wei Wei accompanies her. Yi Ran who spots Xi suggests that they should sit in on the interviews so she can get an idea of who her competition for the internships are. And so when Xi comes in, she’s surprised to see Yi Ran. Her interview goes well for a while, until her gaming history is brought up and one of the interviewers asks her for her gaming name. Xi, who in her nervousness had forgotten the name Wei Wei gave her to use blurts out that she’s Lu Wei Wei (which is Wei Wei’s name on the game). Shao Xiang is shocked that she’s Wei Wei and then smirks at the thought (yup. He’s Zhen Shui and he’s feeling pretty thrilled that Wei Wei’s not the drop dead gorgeous beauty he’d once thought her to be. How shallow. And how much am I looking forward to when he meets Wei Wei and realizes that she is drop dead gorgeous). Xi is worried and so when the interview is over, she breaks both news to Wei Wei. Wei Wei though isn’t bothered as she figures that she can use one of her alias when it’s her turn and she doesn’t really care if the person who had been in the room with Yi Ran is her enemy in the game.
8. Another meet cute (but once again, he met and she has no idea that he’s seen her)
Yong Hou finally joins Nai at the reception area and he’s all smiles as he asks if Yi Ran confessed her feelings to Nai. Nai simply brushes off the question but his attention is soon captured by the sight of Wei Wei who’s waiting with Xi. Yong Hou notes where his eyes land and tells him that Wei Wei’s their department’s most beautiful girl, who’d come second to Yi Ran in the university’s beauty contest. Nai finds it a big coincidence that Wei Wei’s name is Wei Wei (trust me dude. It’s the same amazing girl), but he doesn’t press the matter and just walks away.
9. Yang is not impressed by Guang (ha. A boy after my own heart. How I love him)
Just as agreed, Wei Wei and Guang meet outside her student: Yang’s house. Guang acts like he’s humoring her until Yang opens the door and he (Yang) gives him (Guang) a distrustful look, when Wei Wei introduces him as the foreign language tutor. Yang states aloud that Guang’s not all that (hahahaha. Tell him Yang. I don’t like him either), and Guang is affronted (dude, not everyone will bow down to you), whilst Wei Wei can barely hold back her smile. When she goes to get Yang some juice, Guang uses the opportunity to question Yang about his relationship with Wei Wei and Yang confirms that Wei Wei’s a considerate tutor who doubles as a sitter. In order to keep him protected, she taught him Morse code so when she knocks, he knows that it’s her that’s knocking and it’s okay to open the door. Yang is even less impressed when he learns that Guang doesn’t know Morse code (hahaha) and when Guang and Wei Wei are about to leave, Yang calls Wei Wei back to ask if Guang’s her boyfriend. She denies it and Yang tells her not to date Guang as he believes Guang’s lacking (I concur :D). He would rather she date Nai however (hahaha. This is so awesome) and he shows her the article of Nai at the gaming conference. Wei Wei explains that Nai is way out of her league (that’s what you think sweetheart :D) but Yang tells her not to sell herself short as she herself is quite a catch (I agree!).
10. Guang offers Wei Wei a well deserved apology (and about time too)
Outside Yang’s house, Wei Wei suggests to Guang that they wait a while for Yang’s mother to return, so Guang can get a good look at the sports car and stop accusing her of photoshopping the picture. Guang tells her that there’s no need to wait as he believes her. And so, he deletes the post he’d put up and apologizes, stating that he was wrong about her (yup. You most certainly are).
Character I wanted to bitchslap:
No one in this episode.
Headache inducing moment:
None in this episode.
This episode’s a Chocolate Espresso Martini. Sweet and decadent and extremely satisfying. The expression on Yi Ran’s face when Nai was not only unimpressed with her but also blew her off had me grinning like a loon and laughing hard. Ha. The sweet satisfaction. I love that Nai put her in her place all the while being polite and it has me looking forward to what Yi Ran’s face will look like when Nai chooses Wei Wei. I was also quite thrilled at the fact that Xi used Wei Wei’s server name for her interview. Shao Xiang doesn’t deserve to know just yet that Wei Wei’s as gorgeous in real life as she is in the game and I would like her to be happy and in love with Nai when Shao Xiang finds out. He is so obsessed with looks, rather than intelligence and talent that he doesn’t even deserve Wei Wei’s friendship or time. Add the way Yang put Guang in his place and this was an episode that I loved a lot :D.
