Hye Jung and Ji Hong reach a new level of understanding and give us a mind-blowing kiss to celebrate them making up. Yoon Do continues to be his awesome self. Soo Ji’s finally rescued from her creepster ‘husband’ and Hye Jung and Ji Hong’s relationship continues to bloom.
The Episode in 10 Moments:
- Life moves on after Chairman Hong’s death and Yoon Do’s adorably helping his rival
We open on child Ji Hong crying for his father. He is joined by adult Ji Hong who hugs him and holds his hand till they get to the memorial hall for Chairman Hong where childhood Ji Hong disappears, leaving adult Ji Hong alone (poor Ji Hong. Losing a father twice in one lifetime must be hell for him). As he looks at the picture of himself and Chairman Hong, Ji Hong tells us that the cells that make up the human body constantly maintain a state of instability. Being alive is unstable because in the end, the essence of life is change. It’s what Chairman Hong always told him. Making decisions and taking responsibility for them is a man’s duty thus making this a new beginning. We then fastforward to three weeks later, with Patient Yoo’s husband still being a creep who sings to her and tells her to open her eyes. He’s getting worked up about her ignoring him when Yoon Do, Hye Jung and Kang Soo show up. He brings up the fact that his wife wouldn’t open her eyes but when Yoon Do asks her to, she opens her eyes just fine. After instructing Kang Soo to check up on her often, Yoon Do asks Hey Jung about Ji Hong. He’s surprised that not only as Ji Hong not contacted her, but Hye Jung hasn’t reached out to him either, for fear of distracting Ji Hong. Yoon Do points out that she really doesn’t know how men are built. He tells her that if she really loves Ji Hong and wants to remain in his life, then Hye Jung has to take the initiative and get involved in his life (well would you look at that. Giving her advice that would bring her closer to your rival. How cute. Hehehehe). He grumbles and asks himself why he’s telling Hye Jung all these (hehehe) and when Hye Jung suggests they have lunch so he can give her more advice, he concludes that she hasn’t done much dating and chuckles as he walks away, stating that Ji Hong deserves how hard a dating life he’s having (hahahaha. Cute)
2. Sung Jong doesn’t waste time in moving in and Mal Soon’s record isn’t gone yet
Ji Hong gets back to Korea and is met at the airport by Pa Ran who’s come to pick him up. Pa Ran wonders if Ji Hong wants to stop by at the hospital for Sung Jong’s inauguration (utterly shameless. He didn’t even wait for the ink to dry on Chairman Hong’s death certificate). Ji Hong turns down the suggestion and so isn’t there when Sung Joon’s sworn in as the new Chairman. His family, particularly Myung Hoon’s thrilled but Tae Ho most certainly isn’t as enthusiastic. Post inauguration has everyone sharing in the goodies of the event and even the residents dig in. Except, Kyung Joon shows up as his grumbling self, thus having all the residents escape from the common room. It thus leaves him alone to grab many of the packets and escape with them (shameless thief). The residents head to the nurses’ station where Patient Yoo’s creepy husband comes to see them, all smiles as he hands out food packets. Soo Jin wonders why the man just doesn’t get a caretaker and creepster replies that taking care of his wife calms him down. The female nurses all buy it, except the male residents. Meanwhile, up at Yoon Do’s office, Ji Young comes to pay him a visit, wondering how things between him and Seo Woo’s going. When Yoon Do tells her that they’ve decided to part ways, Ji Young tries to use talk of family to force Yoon Do’s hand. Yoon Do though, wouldn’t allow it, leaving Ji Young to grumble about her wanting them together, and wondering why everyone’s so focused on forcing Seo Woo to take over control of the hospital. The very people she’s talking about are at the moment in Myung Hoon’s office where they’re talking about the plan to open more centers. Myung Hoon also tells Sung Jong about his plan to keep Tae Ho and Ji Hong on because they’re smart and he’s the one paying their salaries. His conversation with Sung Jong is interrupted however, by Chi Hyun who comes bearing gifts. The gifts don’t appease Myung Hoon who’s pissed that Chi Hyun had been willing to sell him out because he was terrified about Chairman Hong. He’s even less pleased when after he tells Chi Hyun that he should kiss his chances of being transferred to Seoul goodbye, Chi Hyun threatens him with the fact that he still has Mal Soon’s actual operation records. Myung Hoon orders Chi Hyun out of the office and Chi Hyun begging him to reconsider doesn’t change his mind.
3. Things are still awkward between Ji Hong and Hye Jung and Ji Hong catches on that something’s off with creepster
Hye Jung’s back in the office she shares with Seo Woo (thankfully, Seo Woo’s not there as well), and after remembering Ji Hong telling her that he’s gotten used to dealing with things on his own, she calls Ji Hong’s phone. Ji Hong however, isn’t with his phone. Instead, he’s about to get on an elevator and sees Chi Hyun who’s just getting off it. Chi Hyun tries to escape the impending conversation but Ji Hong reminds him that he’s a kind person and so his offer’s still on the table. They both give deep bows to each other and go their separate ways. Ji Hong ends up paying a visit to Cho Soo Ji (weird. Wonder why I kept thinking of her as patient Yoo), and Kang Soo immediately calls Hye Jung to let her know. She comes running down and catches Ji Hong as he’s being briefed by Kang Soo on Soo Ji’s condition. Ji Hong finally notices her but says nothing and just tells Kyung Joon that they should go visit Soo Ji. Soo Ji at that moment is being tended to by her creepster husband and when he leaves the room to take a call, she moves her fingers and Soo Jin notices. Soo Jin heads out to deliver the news and because Soo Ji can’t speak yet, we’re the only ones to hear her internally tell us that creepster isn’t her husband (okay. That’s really creepy). The doctors enter to examine Soo Ji and Ji Hong shares the good news with creepster who meets Ji Hong outside the room to ask when So Jin will be able to walk and talk. When Ji Hong replies that there’s a possibility that Soo Jin might not be able to talk or walk, creepster lets some of his creepiness show as he smiles. Ji Hong picks up on it and after the man leaves, he asks Kang Soo what exactly creepster does for a living. Kang Soo replies that the man’s a freelancer and practically lives in the ward and Ji Hong asks if Hye Jung’s noticed anything out of the ordinary with the man. Hye Jung replies that she hasn’t and Ji Hong shakes off the thought that something’s wrong (no don’t Ji Hong. Trust your gut. The guy’s a big time creep).
4. Yoon Do gives Seo Woo really helpful advice and the cold war continues
Seo Woo’s informed by Kyung Joon that Yoon Do wants her to scrub in with him for his surgery. She’s surprised he asked for her, especially because she’d assumed he would have called Hye Jung. She even adds that she would have expected Yoon Do to move in on Hye Jung with Ji Hong temporarily out of the picture (girl, not everyone’s like you). Yoon Do replies that he’s not that petty (of course you’re not. You’re adorable) that he would move in when his competition is out of the picture. Plus, Ji Hong’s back. He walks away and later Seo Woo joins him in the OR as Yoon Do’s scrubbing up. Except, she comes in after he’s already in, instead of having come in earlier to prep the patient for the surgery. Yoon Do points out the unprofessionalism and tells her to not live to fulfill her father’s expectation because she’s not eighteen years old anymore (dude, have you seen the girl? Have you heard her speak? She’s not just eighteen. She’s like a fifteen year old or something). We then cut to her father who as he’s doing a sweep of the hospital, notices Ji Hong and calls him for a private chat, wondering why he’s prying into his past by searching for Mal Soon’s surgery records. Ji Hong smiles as he replies that he just wants to know about what happened with Mal Soon’s surgery. He asks Myung Hoon if the latter remembers the surgery and Myung Hoon’s eyes shift as he lies that he doesn’t. Ji Hong doesn’t believe him, although he doesn’t say anything. Meanwhile, Hye Jung is called in to look at a patient brought into the ER and when Ji Hong joins her, he examines the patient and states that he would need surgery. He leaves after speaking; still giving Hye Jung the cold shoulder. Whilst they’re scrubbing up for the surgery Hye Jung works up the courage to ask him how he’s doing, stating that she hasn’t seen him since Chairman Hong’s passing away. Ji Hong replies that he had a lot to do, thanks her for having held down the fort and walks into the ER (now that’s what I call Siberian cold). Even after the surgery, he tosses away the surgical cap and walks away, leaving a floundering Hye Jung to stare after him (poor Hye Jung).
5. Hye Jung and In Joo make up as do Hye Jung and Ji Hong
Hye Jung works up the courage to visit Ji Hong at his office. But her courage fails her just as In Joo shows up. In Joo clarifies that she and Ji Hong are just friends and declares that the one person she has to make things right with, is Hye Jung. Next thing we see, they’re having drinks at a bar and In Joo admits that she’d tried contacting Hye Jung in the past, but couldn’t because she had to work through her childish jealousy. She apologizes for the past and Hye Jung teases her at first but eventually accepts the apology and the two women drink to it (awwwww). Over at the hospital, Ji Hong gets a text from Pa Ran and he heads to Pa Ran’s house where they turn a grumbling Yoon Do into their personal chef (hahahaha). Pa Ran tells Ji Hong that In Joo will soon join them, and soon enough, In Joo shows up outside the house, drunk as a skunk with Hye Jung helping her along. In Joo plops herself on the ground, screaming for Ji Hong and Pa Ran (hahaha), until the two men show up, with Yoon Do in tow. Pa Ran and Yoon Do help In Joo into the house, leaving Hye Jung and Ji Hong alone. Ji Hong asks Hye Jung if she wants to come in as well and when Hye Jung tells him that she’d rather leave, he tells her that it’s okay then. Hye Jung’s annoyed, wondering since when Ji Hong does exactly what she wants. She makes to storm off but Ji Hong grabs a hold of he; a little smile on his face as he asks her what she wants to do then? Leave or talk. She chooses talk because the next thing we see, she’s in Ji Hong’s apartment. After settling down, Hye Jung apologizes, telling Ji Hong that she’s never been consoled when she was sad and so doesn’t know how to offer that same comfort to someone else. Plus, she was alone when Mal Soon passed away and thought that sorrow was something to be handled alone. Ji Hong replies by telling her that he misses her (awwww). He continues that he went through Chairman Hong’s things alone, and usually his past self would have been okay with handling it on his own. But, he couldn’t stop thinking about Hye Jung. Hye Jung asks him why he hadn’t called and he replies that he was waiting for her to call. He continues that whenever he’d wanted something, he always acted first, which was why he’d told her about his feelings. But then, he’d realized that waiting for the woman he loves is the most active thing he can do (awwwwwww). Hye Jung admits that she didn’t know what to do, especially because she’d pushed him into a corner and demanded that he change. She apologizes for wanting him to love her the way she is, whilst she’d demanded that he change. Ji Hong smiles as he tells her that one of her biggest strengths is her ability to figure things out and admit to her faults. Hye Jung smiles and tells Ji Hong that she wants to be a part of his life. She apologizes once again for demanding that he change and tells him that he’s free to think and make his own decisions and she’ll just stand by his side (awwwww). She asks him if she can do that and Ji Hong tells her that she can. At the words, she bursts into a happy smile (awwwwwww).
6. The kiss (sweet, brilliant, sexy kiss. Oooooooh).
With that sorted out, Hye Jung makes to leave and Ji Hong wonders if he can’t tempt her to stay. Hye Jung grumbles that she’d been worried when he didn’t pick up her call because she’d assumed that it meant he was over his feelings for her. Ji Hong’s surprised to hear that she’d called and apologizes for not answering. He then leads her to the claw machine which he’d guessed that she wanted to try out. And sure enough, Hye Jung gets into playing (awwww) with it, and Ji Hong who tries to guide her hands, comes really really close. So close that when she turns around, their lips are practically almost touching. The moment turns tense and Hye Jung pushes herself up onto the claw machine whilst her and Ji Hong try their damndest to look at everything else but each other (hehehehe). Ji Hong even gulps (cute) and Hye Jung reaches for his hair to pull out the lint that had gotten in it (I think she’s doing it more to get her fingers in that hair though. Hehehe). The act has Ji Hong catching a breath and then he leans in to kiss her and Hye Jung kisses him back (mama mia. Now that’s what I’m talking about! What a kiss. Smoking and romantic and definitely making up for their first kiss).
7. Ji Hong finally listens to his gut
The next morning, Yoon Do wakes up to find Pa Ran and In Joo sleeping off a hangover. They’re both unresponsive and Yoon Do takes to calling In Joo “Aunt” until she wakes up (hahahahaha. Writer dearest. Are you trying to tell us something? Like maybe In Joo might just be the woman Pa Ran needs for him to decide to settle down?). In Joo’s huffy that Yoon Do’s calling her aunt, since she figures she can pass for an older sister. And then, she demands that Yoon Do make her some orange juice, leaving Yoon Do to grumble about Pa Ran’s friends and how similar they act (hahahah). Later at the hospital, Hye Jung and Ji Hong have an adorably awkward moment (well, after that kiss, I’m not surprised. Hehehehe :D), but head in to check on Soo Ji. Ji Hong examines her and notices her tearful expression as she stares at him. He doesn’t give anything away but outside the room, he asks Kyung Joon if there’s a way to separate Soo Ji from creepster. Kyung Joon agrees and next thing we see, he and Kang Soo are leading creepster out of the room, under the pretense that they want him to advise them on investment options. With creepster out of the room, Ji Hong and Hye Jung rush into the room, with Hye Jung on the lookout as Ji Hong tells Soo Ji to blink once for yes and twice for no, in answer to his questions. He asks her if she feels discomforted in any way and Soo Ji blinks yes. He asks her if her ‘husband’ is responsible for the discomfort and Soo Ji blinks yes as well. Hye Jung then sounds the alarm that creepster’s on his way back. This gives Ji Hong enough time to disconnect Soo Jin from the machine taking her vitals. The machine acts up and using that as his cover, Ji Hong tells creepster that they would have to take Soo Ji to get more CT scans done (brilliant. Just brilliant). And conveniently enough, creepster isn’t allowed to enter the room with her.
8. Learning the truth about Soo Ji and her ‘husband’ and Hye Jung takes a big step forward
Alone in the room, the doctors hold up an alphabet sheet, and using her blinks, Soo Ji is able to spell it out that creepster’s actually her attacker. Still working on not alerting creepster, Soo Ji’s returned to her hospital room and outside the room, Hye Jung informs Ji Hong that Soo Ji was declared a missing person by her parents. Ji Hong can’t piece together why she would be declared missing when she’s with her husband. Inside Soo Ji’s room, we’re given the reason why as creepster reminisces about how they’d met and he’d pestered her to both accept his feelings and to get their ‘marriage’ licensed. As Soo Ji listens to him, she silently states that she wishes she’d known back in the past that a man who bets his everything on her would only cause her harm. Back outside the room, Ji Hong and Hye Jung are met by the police officers who inform them that Soo Ji’s not actually married to creepster. Instead, he’d filled out a marriage certificate without her knowledge. Hye Jung asks if Soo Ji doesn’t know creepster at all then and the policeman explains that she’d dated the guy for a while but broke up with him due to his obsessive behavior. The assault therefore, is payback for the breakup. Hye Jung then volunteers to get the man out of Soo Ji’s room. Ji Hong though, wants to go instead and at first Hye Jung tries pushing, but then she remembers Ji Hong advising her to be willing to accept his help and so she suggests that Ji Hong do it. Except, Ji Hong’s with creepster when Soo Ji’s parents show up. He’s able to spot them first and escapes before Ji Hong notices. By the time Ji Hong notices, creepster’s way ahead and he’s able to take a cab to make his escape (drats).
9. Yoon Do’s on a roll with his advice trend and Hye Jung comes to the rescue
Yoon Do’s alone at Sooni Hawaii when Seo Woo shows up. She sits and Yoon Do brings up her drinking alone. Seo Woo replies that Young Kook would join her soon and Yoon Do brings up the fact that Seo Woo used to comfort him after he got dumped. Seo Woo promises to never do that again and Yoon Do who’s happy at the words tells Seo Woo to never let him treat her like a doormat. He walks away smiling while Seo Woo’s not smiling as she watches him leave. Meanwhile, over at the hospital, creepster makes a reappearance, this time with a baseball cap on to avoid suspicion. He walks up to Soo Ji’s room and after her mother leaves to get her some water to drink, he enters the room. He claims to be hurt that she’s so surprised to see him and tells her that he’s been thinking about it and has come to the conclusion that he’d rather kill her himself than have her end up with someone else (shit). Soo Ji who can’t speak starts to gasp, whilst creepster states that he’s sure she’s okay with his suggestion. And with that, he starts to strangle her. She flatlines and the machines at the nurses station beeps, causing Hye Jung and the nurses to rush to Soo Ji’s room where they see creepster about to escape. Hye Jung though, trounces the man and subdues him, shouting that violence isn’t love. After he’s down, she rushes to Soo Ji and sees that she’s gone into a semi coma. Immediately, she calls Ji Hong to brief in and when Ji Hong joins her whilst she’s scrubbing up, Hye Jung tells him that she really needs Soo Ji to live. With that, the two of them head into the OR to operate.
10. Yoon Do’s house is being taken over
Yoon Do gets home to meet the horror of Pa Ran, making himself comfortable in his house. To make matters worse, In Joo also shows up, and not only demands that he make her ramyeon (hahaha), but also declares that she will be staying in his house from that moment onwards because her house is too far from the hospital. The words leave Yoon Do wailing about the fact that it must all be a dream (hahahaha. Sorry to bust your bubble Yoon Do but you’re very much awake). Meanwhile, at the hospital, Soo Ji’s surgery goes well and not only is she back in her room, but her motor skills have started returning. So much so that she’s able to draw a heart on Hye Jung’s palm (awwwww). Hye Jung smiles as she tosses her a heart as well. Ji Hong and Hye Jung leave the room and Hye Jung asks Ji Hong to take her home. He obliges her and when they get to her house, Hye Jung has Ji Hong walk away first so she can watch him leave. Except, she runs after him and wraps him in a back hug (awwwww). As she hugs him, Ji Hong tells us that back hugs are touching. They give him the feeling that someone’s supporting him from behind. And they’re the biggest joy a loved one can give.
Character I wanted to bitchslap:
Because it’s just like Hye Jung said. Anyone who abuses another person in the name of love is scum. Utter scum. And abusive scums like this asshole deserve to be bitchslapped. They also deserved to be kicked in the nuts as well. Urgh!
Headache inducing moment:
None in this episode.
This episode’s a First Kiss Punch. It’s so sweet and heartwarming and comforting. Hye Jung and Ji Hong have reached a new stage in their relationship and it’s a beautiful thing to see. Their conversation in Ji Hong’s house showed how far they’ve come as a couple. They’re no longer a teacher and his student. Rather they’re a man and a woman who’ve survived their first fight as a couple and have come out of it so much stronger. And then, there’s the kiss. Whoop! That kiss. It’s shy and heated and romantic and hot and so fitting of Hye Jung and Ji Hong because we’re able to see the innocence and the barely simmering passion all balanced perfectly with the romance of the moment. It’s sweet. Really sweet.
