Ghosts are quite persistent, although Kyung Ja and Hyun Ji take it to a whole new level (probably why they’re such besties). Hyun Ji’s persistence finally pays off and Bong Pal thaws big time; so much so that he starts to actively make her a part of his life. Chun Sang and In Rang are still weird and cute and something really creepy is going on with Hye Sung.
The Episode in 10 Moments:
- Hyun Ji still doesn’t have her memories back
We pick up from the kiss and Hyun Ji looking absolutely stunned at the act. Bong Pal pulls back to ask if her memories have returned but Hyun Ji’s so stunned she doesn’t say anything. Bong Pal then talks about him needing her help and so he would forget all about the ten million Won she owes him if she assists him with his exorcism. Hyun Ji however is still stunned and doesn’t respond and when Bong Pal finally gets her attention, she apologizes and disappears, leaving Bong Pal to grumble-ask himself if she really had lost her memories and the kiss was meant to have restored them. We then cut to the beautiful but sad looking singer: Miz, who’s applying makeup even as her phone buzzes with mean comments about her on social media. She walks to her living room, puts on music and then hangs herself. Morning at Bong Pal’s, brings with it Bong Pal grumbling to himself about being had by Hyun Ji; yet another virgin ghost who’s tricked him (hahaha. How many virgin ghosts have tricked you Bong Pal? Give us a number). He makes himself a rolled egg omelette (that’s a lot of omelette Bong Pal. Sure some of that isn’t for Hyun Ji?), looks around for Myung Chul who’s also missing, and then he heads out, grumbling to himself that he better not run into Hyun Ji. Hyun Ji on the other hand is at a restaurant moping, when Kyung Ja pops in to see her. Kyung Ja’s spent the entire morning looking for Hye Sung and she tells Hyun Ji that she’s finally found the man of her life after thirty years of searching. Hyun Ji points out that Kyung Ja’s always saying that about every one of the men she’s fixated on, but Kyung Ja waxes lyrical about all of Hye Sung’s qualities and declares that he’s the one (hahahaha. I hope he’s not some nasty guy though. I’m so in love with Kyung Ja). She finally takes note of Hyun Ji’s despondence and asks her what’s wrong. Hyun Ji explains about the kiss and when Kyung Ja asks if her memories returned, we catch barely visible slivers of images and Hyun Ji frustratedly shakes her head as she answers that she still can’t remember anything.
2. Hyun Ji’s working hard at making Bong Pal look crazy (hahahaha) and Bong Pal’s totally smitten
Hyun Ji pops right back up next to Bong Pal, smiling cutely as she asks if he’s missed her. Bong Pal’s not smiling as he walks away and Hyun Ji remembering Kyung Ja’s advice to stick to Bong Pal so she can finally figure out what happened to her, follows him. They come across Seo Yeon smiling with Hye Sung who she meets to ask if she can take the not yet claimed dog home. Hye Sung’s thrilled at the news and it’s this sight that Bong Pal happens upon. Hyun Ji begins to sing a lovelorn song for him (hahahaha) and Bong Pal huffs and walks away. He heads to the library where Hyun Ji promises to help him with his exorcism. Bong Pal continues to ignore her and when she grabs one of his books, they get into a minor tussle that ends when Bong Pal realizes that everyone in the library is staring at him, holding out a book and seemingly fighting with just air (hahahaha. Poor Bong Pal). Outside the library, Bong Pal finally cracks and asks why Hyun Ji’s following him around. he points out that her memories probably didn’t return and wonders if she’s lying, stating that he’d been warned not to trust any virgin ghosts. Hyun Ji replies that she isn’t lying but her memories hadn’t returned with their last kiss. Bong Pal then asks her why she’s still following him around since the kiss didn’t work and Hyun Ji tells him of her belief that she would be able to crossover if she takes and passes the SAT’s. She then asks Bong Pal to help her study for the exams and tells him that she will help him with his exorcism so as to pay him the ten million Won she owes him. She offers two million Won per ghost and Bong Pal tells her that it’s one million per ghost (wait, are you bringing down the price for her? Hahahaha. Bong Pal you softie you). Hyun Ji then suggests that she pay eight hundred thousand Won and Bong Pal tells her to make it five hundred thousand (hahaha. I knew it. Five hundred thousand Won means more time together. You’re hooked on her already). Except, when they get to the supermarket and Hyun Ji requests to live in his house so as to make her slaying ghosts and studying easier, Bong Pal brings the ghost hunting further down to two hundred and fifty thousand Won (Yup. Definitely doesn’t want her gone. The question is, is he doing it because he likes her or because she makes ghost hunting easier for him? Or is it the case of both :D) and Hyun Ji wails that she will never finish paying her debt (hahaha. That’s the idea). She does agree however, and then spends their shopping trip tossing things into the cart and even has yet another struggle with Bong Pal about some meat that she wants. The struggle has the woman in the frozen food aisle giving Bong Pal the, ‘boy is off his rockers’ look and he has to put the meat in the cart, even as he glares at a smiling Hyun Ji (hahaha. Poor Bong Pal).
3. Hyun Ji’s pretty in pink and Sadako proves that he’s only brave when he’s on the other side of the screen
Outside the supermarket, Hyun Ji continues to torture Bong Pal and even tries getting him to buy her a dress. Bong Pal refuses to budge and Hyun Ji enters the store and puts on the dress, twirling around so Bong Pal can see how pretty she looks. Bong Pal merely sneers and walks away (ha! I’m sure I caught the, she looks really pretty look in your eyes Bong Pal. You don’t fool me), leaving Hyun Ji to huff at him. Over at the veterinary clinic, Hye Sung hands over the dog to Seo Yeon, along with medication for the dog to take. In the course of the conversation, his pen drops and Seo Yeon hands it over to him. Meanwhile, Chun Sang’s frustrated after a full day of playing a MMORPG with Sadako, the mean commentator who’s always putting up nasty comments on the Ghostnet live stream. He’s also fond of utterly trouncing Chun Sang on their gaming sessions and he mocks Chun Sang telling him that he’s not very smart and always needs the help of others to get things done. He warns Chung Sang to not mess with him anymore and states that Chun Sang must be missing either a finger or a part of his brain. Whilst Chun Sang screams in frustration, Sadako smiles and on the TV in his room, we see the news report on Miz’s suicide and the fact that she’d even left a video documenting the act. And then his TV acts up and whilst Sadako’s getting freaked out by that, his phone plays the video of Miz dying. He’s freaked out some more and even more freaked out when out of the blues, his TV starts to play one of Miz’s music videos. And then Miz’s ghost shows up, and even as he screams at her not to come close to him, she approaches anyway. Next thing we hear is the sound of his bones breaking.
4. Hyun Ji settles in at Bong Pal’s but Myung Chul comes to ruin it all
Back at the house, Hyun Ji’s huffy that Bong Pal didn’t get her a dress. Bong Pal doesn’t understand why as a ghost she needs a change of clothes but Hyun Ji’s determined to not be one of those old virgin ghosts with smelly clothes. Bong Pal wonders how she intends to wear the dress then and Hyun Ji tells him that all he has to do is buy the dress and then burn it so she can wear it. Bong Pal has no interest in buying a dress only to burn it in the end and says as such. Hyun Ji’s miffed but then she’s all smiles when she sees Bong Pal setting up her things in his apartment (hahaha. So cute). He notes how happy she is and Hyun Ji tells him that it’s the first gift she’s receiving in five years. Bong Pal brings up her need to buy a toothbrush and Hyun Ji replies that she’s a pretty hygienic ghost. Bong Pal then teases her that if the brush is the first gift she’s getting in five years, then she’s an hygienic ghost who hasn’t brushed her teeth in five years (hahahahaha). Hyun Ji doesn’t let it get to her however as she goes back to smiling happily at her brush in the bathroom. Bong Pal then starts cooking meat for dinner, as per Hyun Ji’s request but Myung Chul shows up and Hyun Ji has to go outside the house. Myung Chul spots the scimitar and wonders how it got to the house. Bong Pal lies that it was always there and although Myung Chul questions the words, he lets himself be distracted by the smell of the cooking meat. And whilst Hyun Ji weeps outside the house, Myung Chul digs in, eats all the meat (hahaha. Poor Hyun Ji) and then goes to use the bathroom. And then to make matters worse, he comes out with Hyun Ji’s new toothbrush in his hand (nooooooooo) and thanks Bong Pal for getting him a toothbrush, although he would have preferred if it hadn’t been a pink toothbrush. And so, Hyun Ji pops up that night, whilst Myung Chul’s sleeping, glares at him and tells him that she hopes he falls down on his face and break his nose (hahahahaha). Almost immediately, Myung Chul falls off the couch and although Hyun Ji is at first startled, she ends up laughing as she tells the sleeping Myung Chul that it serves him right (hehehehe. She’s so cute). She then wonders where she would sleep, notes that Bong Pal is again sleeping curled into himself, and then sighs as she enjoys the feel of sleeping on a bed for the first time in a long while. Bong Pal turns in his sleep and their lips come very close, reminding her of the rooftop kiss. She turns around and settles in and when Bong Pal wakes up in the middle of the night, he covers her with the comforter (awwww) and heads to the living room to get some sleep.
5. Hyun Ji really doesn’t like Myung Chul and she eats enough to make up for five years of starvation
The next morning, Myung Chul’s suspicious about Bong Pal sleeping in the living room, although he doesn’t think much of it. Bong Pal tries to get him to wait for breakfast but Myung Chul explains that he has to go to Leechun and mentions that he will see Bong Pal at Bong Pal’s mother’s memorial. Hyun Ji who’s around hears this and realizes that Bong Pal’s mother is dead. But it means she’s also present when Myung Chul gives Bong Pal his “don’t exorcise” spiel and “virgin ghosts are horrible and evil” talk. She comes all up in Myung Chul’s face to glare at him and although Myung Chul sense her energy, he can’t place where she is (hahahaha). The minute he leaves, Hyun Ji wonders why Myung Chul is so distrustful and doesn’t realize that there are nice ghosts such as herself around. But, she forgets all about him soon enough and concentrates on her hungry stomach, asking Bong Pal to make her breakfast. He does and she then proceeds to demolish everything he’s made in one sitting. The sight has Bong Pal reconsidering their agreement and he drops their agreed terms to two hundred thousand Won, stating that Hyun Ji would be eating him out of a house.
6. Sadako’s dead body is found and Chun Sang is next to die
Tired of Sadako’s bullying, Chun Sang brings In Rang along to confront Sadako at the hostel he traced him to. Except, when they enter Sadako’s room, it’s to find him dead and bleeding from his eyes (yikes). Whilst Sadako’s neighbors gossip about how famous he is for leaving nasty comments about people on social media: particularly the singer Miz, Chun Sang and In Rang are taken into the police station where they’re questioned by the same officer who had questioned Bong Pal about the high school incident. He is suspicious at first that Chun Sang and In Rang are the ones who killed Sadako but when his partner confirms that the boys got in after Sadako was dead, they’re cleared. But Chun Sang’s still in deep trouble because everyone who’s posted the most hurtful comments about Miz have died and Sadako had hacked into Chun Sang’s account to leave so many hurtful comments about Miz that Chun Sang is listed as the third person who’s made the most number of comments (shit. Shit. SHIT!). Chun Sang heads home and he and In Rang are terrified out of their wits especially because the word on social media is that everyone who’s written nasty comments about Miz are going to die. The commenters list Chun Sang as next on the list and when Chun Sang’s TV does the flickering TV change thing to Miz’s music video, the two boys run out and so aren’t there to see Miz’s bleeding eyes flashing red and start to drip blood (Cripes, talk about creepy). Meanwhile, one of the other commenters who still puts up comments about Miz, post death gets a visit from Miz who leaves her dead with blood leaking out of her eyes and her bones broken.
7. Hyun Ji thinks Bong Pal’s hopeless at dating and cats also think there’s something off with Hye Sung
Hyun Ji follows Bong Pal to his school yet again, explaining that she thinks it’s her only chance at attending college. After class, she grumbles about it being too long and that she’s starving. But she’s distracted by the sight of Seo Yeon and grins at Bong Pal’s lovestruck expression when he spots her. She tries getting Bong Pal to get Seo Yeon’s attention and when he wouldn’t do it, she pinches him so he groans and Seo Yeon takes notice. But, even with Seo Yeon right in front of him, Bong Pal’s tongue-tied and Hyun Ji complains about Bong Pal not acting like a man. When he even tries to work up the courage to ask, he loses his nerve at the last minute. Hyun Ji calls him hopeless and begins to repeat his words to annoy him. Bong Pal threatens to kill her. She sticks her tongue out at him, telling him that she’s already dead (hahahaha) and then walks away. Bong Pal can barely hold back his smile. Seo Yeon meanwhile, hurries after Hye Sung to tell him about the dog who’s not eating as much as he should. He suggests she bring the dog to the clinic and makes to leave but notices another girl feeding a stray cat. Hye Sung brings up the fact that she’s not meant to be feeding wild animals in the area and tells her to find another corner higher up so she wouldn’t be discovered by the guards. She’s delighted that he’s helping her and Hye Sung notices that the cat just gave birth to kittens. The girl agrees and asks Hye Sung what she can feed the cat. He gives the dietary recommendation and then reaches for the cat to check her out. But the cat scratches him and scurries off and Hye Sung flashes the cat a nasty look (something’s really off about this guy).
8. In Rang comes to Bong Pal for help
Whilst Hyun Ji’s advising Bong Pal as a big sister not to keep his crush a secret for so long, In Rang comes running in to tell Bong Pal about Chun Sang’s situation. He stumbles so much over his words that he’s still in the process of telling Bong Pal what’s happened when Chun Sang who’s at the moment at the Ghostnet office, surrounded by talisman, calls. Except, the call network goes out (cripes. Please save Chun Sang. I don’t want him dying!) and then Chun Sang’s phone suddenly switches to the video of Miz (shit. Shit!). He goes running and screaming out of the room, only to find Miz outside the room. He runs back inside the room and she appears in the room as well, coming straight at him and Chun Sang faints.
9. Using psychology to exorcise Miz
Miz is in the process of breaking Chun Sang’s fingers when Hyun Ji who gets there first screams, flies at Miz and pushes her off of Chun Sang (thank heavens). She fights Miz and tries to reason with her by telling her that killing people wouldn’t change anything. But Miz fights back and asks why they’d hated her so much when all she’d wanted them to do was compliment her. Bong Pal shows up at that moment and kicks Miz away from Hyun Ji, but she comes back swinging strong and knocks both him and Hyun Ji off their feet. Hyun Ji stands right back up (whilst Bong Pal’s down and unconscious) and fights Miz. As she tries to hold her down, she tells her that Miz is the one who hated herself the most and she hadn’t needed to kill anyone. The words incense Miz who gains the upper hand and begins to strangle Hyun Ji as she asks Hyun Ji how she could possibly know or date to try and tell her what to do. Bong Pal regains consciousness at that point and flings Miz off of Hyun Ji. Whilst he asks Hyun Ji if she’s alright, Miz catches a glimpse of herself in the mirror. Remembering Hyun Ji’s words that she’s the one who hates herself the most, Miz’s world turns colorful as she truly sees herself. By the time she hears the second part of the statement asking how she could expect anyone else to like her when she doesn’t like herself, she starts to disintegrate. Soon, she’s reduced to a puff of smoke and In Rang comes running and screaming for Chun Sang.
10. Bong Pal is a confirmed softie and Hye Sung is a cat killer?
After they’re done with the exorcism, Bong Pal and Hyun Ji head back home and although Hyun Ji disappears, claiming that she’s too tired to walk home (and Bong Pal states that he’s envious of her being able to do so), she reappears right back. She tries doing it several times but can’t seem to pull it off and complains that she’s not like the other ghosts who can pull it off. Bong Pal smiles and notices her worn school uniform. He then congratulates her on a job well done and Hyun Ji pats herself on the back that she really had done a great job. She wheedles for some meat and Bong Pal surprises her by agreeing (yup. Definitely a soft spot). She’s delighted and heads to the house, stating that she will wait up. Except, by the time Bong Pal gets home, she’s fast asleep on the couch. He heads to the rooftop to get a small bonfire going and Hyun Ji wakes up to find herself in the gorgeous pink gown (awwww. Bong Pal you cutie, softie you). She immediately appears in front of him to twirl around in the dress and Bong Pal looks utterly and completely besotted with her (awwwww). Over at the Ghostnet office, Chun Sang wakes up relieved to learn that not only is he alive, but he has all his fingers as well and he and In Rang hug each other and cry (you know what? Your bromance is cute too). Meanwhile, at the vet clinic, the nurses notice Hye Sung’s scratch just as they’re heading home for the day. Hye Sung admits that it was a cat that did it and the woman tsk that it must have been when Hye Sung was trying to feed it. Hye Sung waves it off like it’s nothing but as he changes in his office and reveals the nasty, multiple scratches on his hand, we cut to the cat loving university girl discovering the cat brutally killed whilst her kittens cry beside their mother. And over in his office, Hye Sung gives us a hard look (so he went back to kill the cat which was where one scratch because multiple? Creepy bastard).
Character I wanted to bitchslap:
No one in this episode.
Headache inducing moment:
None in this episode.
This episode’s a Firecracker. Primarily because Hyun Ji’s just that: a total firecracker and her explosive energy with Bong Pal just lights up the entire drama. It’s a beauty to watch: to see Bong Pal slowly thaw so much so that he’s starting to rearrange his life to fit her. And why wouldn’t he? Hyun Ji’s brilliant and amazing and kickass. She’s also adorable and sassy and quite persistent, all the whilst maintaining her cute side. The magnetism in their relationship even goes as far as making Hye Sung’s interaction with Seo Yeon appear very dull. But then, maybe it’s all just Hye Sung’s creepiness that has me feeling the marked coldness in that interaction because let’s face it: if Hye Sung really did kill that cat for scratching him, heavens know what else he’s capable of that we haven’t seen yet. And now, I’m all worried for Kyung Ja. Hope you don’t find him yet until we confirm that he’s one of the good guys Kyung Ja.
