This is the episode of noble idiocy galore (brace yourself). Bo Nui’s intent on making herself and Soo Ho miserable but Soo Ho isn’t willing to give up without a fight. Thankfully, there’s Ryang Ha and Dal Nim to help us cope with it all.
The Episode in 10 Moments:
- Bo Nui reverts back to old behavior
We pick up from the almost reunion, Soo Ho and Bo Nui running towards each other and then the car accident happens. The minute she spots Soo Ho’s bloody hand, she takes off running, claiming that it’s her fault because she shouldn’t have loved him (drats. Just what I was hoping to avoid. Girl, it’s not your fault. The car driver should NOT have ran a red light). She heads home to cry in front of pictures of Soo Ho she has in her apartment then heads to the hospital the next morning, to write her healing letters on a piece of paper and slide it behind Soo Ho’s pillow when he’s not in the room. She leaves just as he’s being wheeled back in and so when Soo Ho finally regains consciousness, it isn’t Bo Nui at his side but Seol Hee. He’s bruised all over but only broke one arm, thankfully. But, his concern’s for Bo Nui as he thinks she might have also been injured. Seol Hee breaks the news that Bo Nui had called her to come take care of Soo Ho since she can’t do it herself and Soo Ho’s eyes dim at the realization (Damn Bo Nui. Seriously though? You just had to do this to him? Seriously?).
2. Taking the first steps towards reconciliation with the parents
Shortly after Seol Hee leaves, Soo Ho’s parents come running in, frantic and worried to hear of his accident. His mother wonders who it was that he jumped into the street to save but Soo Ho lies and states that he just wasn’t watching the road. The conversation lags and Soo Ho suggests his parents go home, stating that he can handle it all on his own. His mother isn’t having it though as she remembers that she’d also thought he could do well on his own in the States and had sent him there alone. She apologizes now for doing that and for forcing him to memorize the multiplication table in order to cope with it all, stating that she didn’t know any better. Soo Ho starts to say something to her, but pauses and tells her that he isn’t dying. His father then rises and says in his gruff way that Soo Ho should be more careful when crossing the road and should be wary of cars. Soo Ho replies by telling his father not to sell the fishery. Both his parents are shocked and his father mutters that there’s nothing special about the fishery because all that there is to it is the water all around it. Soo Ho replies that his father loves the fishery (awwww. Soo Ho) and so he should keep it. His father’s so overwhelmed that he runs out of the room. Soo Ho’s mother’s delighted that Soo Ho’s heart has started to melt and she’s startled when she notices that his father is crying (awwww). In his hospital room, Soo Ho calls Bo Nui and leaves a message when he notices that her phone is switched off. He tells her that he’s fine and it was only a minor injury and so he doesn’t want his chicken girl to be worried (awwww). He states that she should hurry over and write her healing letters on his cast and that he misses her.
3. The beginning of noble idiocy. Thank goodness for Dal Nim and Ryang Ha who lighten things up
Bo Nui spots the missed calls from Soo Ho and Dal Nim and chooses to call Dal Nim instead. Dal Nim who has no idea what’s happened asks Bo Nui how the proposal went. Bo Nui though is just calling to ask Dal Nim to clear out her desk for her. Dal Nim immediately wonders what’s wrong and Bo Nui replies that her contract has ended and so she’s leaving (this girl… I can’t even… Argh!!!!!). Dal Nim asks that they meet to talk about it but Bo Nui just signs off with the generic we’ll talk later. She heads in to Bo Ra’s hospital room and tells her that like what happened with Bo Ra, she dragged on to get some more time with Soo Ho and just like how Bo Ra got injured, Soo Ho’s now injured as well (seriously, why?! Why are you doing this to me show. Why?!). On to lighter things, Dal Nim comes running to Ryang Ha to talk about the Bo Nui situation. Ryang Ha is at first concerned about Bo Nui but as Dal Nim continues to talk and he draws closer to her, he becomes more fascinated with Dal Nim’s face than what she’s saying (hahaha). When Dal Nim notices how close their faces are, she’s flustered and asks him to inform her when he hears from Soo Ho because she’s sure that Soo Ho had wanted proposed and now she’s wondering whether something had gone wrong. Ryang Ha is all annoyed that Soo Ho was planning something that big without telling him but then he’s all flustered when Dal Nim makes to walk away only to call her back that Soo Ho’s texted him. She comes running back and he claims it’s not Soo Ho but an unknown person saying “Don’t go” (hahaha. So not smooth Ryang Ha. Not smooth at all). He also gets another message from the mysterious ‘person’ asking “what his plans after work are” and he directs the question at Dal Nim.
4. Bo Nui’s beyond reason and Ryang Ha places the blame where it should have been placed in the first place
Gun Wook holds an interview where Seol Hee talks about how his experiences in South Korea have all contributed towards him being a better athlete and Gun Wook talks about how he’s loved working with “IF”and how good they are at what they do. He even throws in a “I wish Soo Ho returns soon” and after the interview, Seol Hee asks him if he’d done it for Bo Nui, because he thinks of her as family. Gun Wook turns the question around to ask if Seol Hee had quit her job in return for IM sports not pressing their charges against Zeze because of Soo Ho. She declares that she did it for friendship and then brings up Soo Ho’s accident and Bo Nui acting suspiciously. She worries that there’s something wrong with the relationship and states that she’s gotten attached to them being in a relationship (hahaha. Cute). Gun Wook’s suspicions rise and he runs home where he finds Bo Nui in the midst of packing up her life (yup. This girl’s going to be giving me a migraine all throughout this episode. Shit). Gun Wook wonders why she’s doing it (you and me both my dear) and Bo Nui replies that she has to leave because it’s because of her that Soo Ho lost money and fame (actually, he’s still pretty famous. He’s the genius whose game brought a ransomeware that locked out everyone’s computer. Everybody knows him. If I couldn’t use my laptop because of Je Soo Ho, I would never forget his name. Trust me. As for his money, he lost that because Dae Hae was an idiot) and she’s the reason why he got hurt. Gun Wook’s all of us, asking how it’s her fault and pointing out that he too is superstitious but he considers them all just a symbol of luck. Bo Nui believes it’s her fault though because Soo Ho got hurt trying to save her. She continues that she doesn’t want to see that happen again and because she’s already pulled it off with Bo Ra, she’s sure she can stay away from Soo Ho as well. Gun Wook suggests that she come with him then as he’s willing to take her to where she wants to go (you should be taking her to see a shrink because this girl has way too many baggage that has to be expunged from her mind). We then cut to the one person who actually knows whose fault it is: Ryang Ha, who comes crying into Soo Ho’s hospital room, crying bloody murder for the irresponsible driver who hadn’t looked at his map and had run a red light. He then wonders where Bo Nui is and why she’s quitting her job. The words have Soo Ho racing out of the hospital to get into Ryang Ha’s car and driving off to see her (seriously though? Can he do that? He has one broken arm and injuries all over his body. Why aren’t there hospital staff running after him to stop him? Can he run out like that when he hasn’t been discharged yet? Just when you think you’ve seen the most unrealistic thing in a Kdrama, they come around and surprise you with something even more unrealistic). He heads to her house and drives past her and Gun Wook in Gun Wook’s car without noticing. Upon getting to her house and seeing it totally empty, he runs to Bo Ra’s hospital where he learns from the nurse that Bo Nui discharged Bo Ra. She didn’t just get Bo Ra discharged however, but she’d also begged the nurse to not tell Soo Ho where they’re going no matter how much Soo Ho presses because should Soo Ho know where she is, then something horrible will happen to her. As a result, the nurse doesn’t tell Soo Ho anything.
5. Soo Hoo confronts the Shaman and Ryang Ha admits to his feelings
Soo Ho leaves the hospital and heads straight to meet the Shaman and ask him exactly what it was that he told Bo Nui because he realizes that the trouble and the knot came about with the Shaman and has to be untied with the Shaman. When the Shaman replies that he only states what he sees and what he’s heard, Soo Ho asks him what it was that the Shaman had heard: That should he be with Bo Nui, he would die? The Shaman replies that he too feels bad for Bo Nui but he couldn’t just ignore it. He’s never prayed for anything bad to happen to her and had just wanted her to live. Soo Ho cuts in that if that’s the case then the Shaman should have given her ways to live (yes! Preach it Soo Ho). Instead the Shaman had told her that she’s the source of all bad luck, problem and evil. How is that wanting her to live? He tells the Shaman not to play with her tender heart by saying such rubbish theories because the Shaman’s careless words put her life at the edge of a cliff and she is Soo Ho’s everything. He heads back to the hospital where he notices Bo Nui’s healing words that she’d written on a paper and slid underneath his pillow. He reads the words and tears up thinking of Bo Nui. Bo Nui on the other hand is with Bo Ra who’s recovering quickly and answering Bo Nui’s questions. When Bo Ra asks Bo Nui if she’s alright, Bo Nui answers that she’s happy and thankful because she’s with Bo Ra. Outside of Bo Ra’s room however, she turns despondent. Meanwhile, at the Zeze office, the employees are imagining that Bo Nui and Soo Ho are happy together and planning on starting a company together. They start to make bets about it and Dal Nim snaps at them, reminding them that she’s Bo Nui’s best friend and she’s aware of how they’ve turned everything about the couple into a bet. She storms off to the cafe where Ryang Ha comes to join her. When she mentions that she’s thinking about Bo Nui, Ryang Ha gets pissed stating that Soo Ho’s been abandoned twice now and Bo Nui didn’t even take that into consideration. Dal Nim asks him how Soo Ho is and he explains that Soo Ho’s acting normal which worries him even more. When Dal Nim mentions that she’s sure that Bo Nui’s heartbroken because she had to suppress all her emotions and walk away, Ryang Ha wonders why she broke up then if she was going to be that heartbroken (Thank you Ryang Ha. I’m wondering about that myself). Dal Nim agrees and soon both of them are wondering why Soo Ho and Bo Nui can’t just stay together and be in love and then Ryang Ha grabs a hold of Dal Nim’s hand and asks why he and Dal Nim can’t be in love as well (I repeat, thank you guys for keeping me sane from the noble idiocy all over this episode).
6. Seol Hee joins in the search and Gun Wook tells where Bo Nui’s at
Soo Ho takes to calling all the long-term health care hospitals in Korea, one at a time, looking for Bo Ra. Seol Hee joins him in the hospital and after teasing him that he should have been so determined with searching for her after she disappeared, offers to help with the search and so they split the numbers in half. She then decides to call Gun Wook to tell him that Bo Nui disappeared without a word to Soo Ho or anybody for that matter and they’re looking for her. Something in Gun Wook’s voice gives him away and Seol Hee asks why he doesn’t sound surprised and if he knows where Bo Nui is. Gun Wook lies that he has no idea and ends the call. Except, he’s at the center, there to visit Bo Nui who he notices isn’t doing so well. She lies that she’s just been working hard because she’s grateful at how quickly Bo Ra’s recovering. At night though, she’s feverish as she tosses and turns and Gun Wook who waits outside the medical center gets yet another text message from Soo Ho that has him heading back. Soo Ho at the moment, is getting a visit from Ryang Ha who’s come with Soo Ho’s luggage that had been delivered to the cafe. Seeing it makes Soo Ho even sadder and Ryang Ha tries to cheer him up by informing him that Dae Hae’s been caught and Ryang Ha intends to sue for damages. Soo Ho sounds very tired as he tells Ryang Ha not to bother because Dae Hae doesn’t have any money and even Ryang Ha mentioning everyone he intends to go after: Dae Hae, Tweedledee and the Russian company responsible for the sabotage, doesn’t cheer up Soo Ho. Soo Ho perks up though when he gets a text message and soon he’s at Gun Wook’s apartment where Gun Wook tells him that Bo Nui’s fine. Soo Ho asks him where Bo Nui’s at and Gun Wook replies that he’d taken her away because she’d been crying and that had seemed like the only way to get her to stop crying. Except now, it seems like she’s just crying internally. He then adds that Soo Ho should go see Bo Nui.
7. Ryang Ha wants to care for Dal Nim and Soo Ho says goodbye
At Zeze, the employees wonder about going to visit Soo Ho even though he’d warned them not to come and see him at the hospital. Ji Hoon figures that Soo Ho must be feeling pretty miserable at the moment, what with him being penniless and broke. Ryang Ha shows up at the office and they ask after Soo Ho. They’re surprised and relieved that he’s okay and now discharged and Hyun Bin makes a comment about Soo Ho being taken care of by Bo Nui that makes Ryang Ha scowl. Away from the others, Ryang Ha checks with Dal Nim whether she’s been able to reach Bo Nui. When she replies that she thinks Bo Nui really has upped and left for good, he states that he hopes she hasn’t because Soo Ho needs her. Bo Nui then replies that he should take good care of Soo Ho but Ryang Ha corners her to state that he doesn’t know who he should take care of as all he wants is to take care of Dal Nim. She replies that people are watching and runs away, leaving Ryang Ha feeling frustrated (hahaha). Over at Bo Ra’s hospital, Bo Nui keeps seeing phantom images of Soo Ho and when one finally comes to sit beside her, she takes the chance to apologize for having left without a word and not being better at handling things. She also thanks him for giving her the chance to see him whole and well because her last memory of him had been a horrible one. Phantom Soo Ho disappears but real Soo Ho had heard everything she said. He ends up running to her and calls her name. When she stops, stunned to see him for real, he tells her that he’s not there to get her back or to cling to her. Rather, he’s there to say goodbye and to tell her that he will break up with her. Bo Nui tears up and Soo Ho smiles as he draws closer to her and asks her why she ran away instead of just telling him that she wants to break up. He reminds her that she’d always said that the last memory was the most important and suggests that they break up properly. They then go for a walk and when they take a break, Bo Nui asks him if he was in a lot of pain. He replies that he’d been in a little pain and then asks how Bo Ra’s doing. Bo Nui replies that Bo Ra’s recovering quickly and then Soo Ho asks to keep the bunch of flowers Bo Nui had assembled. They continue on their walk and when they reach the end of the path, Soo Ho reminds her of her statement that everyone she loves end up leaving her and states that he isn’t leaving her. And so, she can come and find him, no matter how much time has passed. She tears up although she doesn’t make any movement and Soo Ho tells her to keep her chin up. He hugs her, tells her goodbye and walks away.
8. A year later and Soo Ho’s back to old behavior
One year later and Soo Ho now owns at Daebak Soft (Dae Hae’s former company). He’s put the gifts Bo Nui had given him all over the place and has turned the office into a second home, so when Ryang Ha calls him to inform him that he would meet him at his house, Soo Ho replies that he spent the night at the office (back to old behavior then). Ryang Ha squawks at Soo Ho sleeping in the office when he has a place of his own now (yay! So Soo Ho’s back to recovering all that he’s lost) but Soo Ho’s not bothered and merely gets dressed at the office and walks out. He and Ryang Ha meet with investors who ask what Soo Ho’s done in the past year since he hasn’t developed any new games. Soo Ho replies that he made a vaccine and Ryang Ha explains that the vaccine can break any virus or ransomeware. The investors though are more concerned about the fact that Soo Ho has been on an hiatus and hasn’t made any new games in a year and when Ryang Ha tries to sweet-talk them, Soo Ho’s abrupt as he tells the investors to check their proposal and make a decision. The investors are stunned that Soo Ho’s acting like he doesn’t need their money and Soo Ho just repeats his statement. The words seem to work as we see Ryang Ha squawking about why Soo Ho would promise to have a demonstration video in three weeks. Soo Ho isn’t concerned though as he believes his team can pull it off.
9. Meet the Daebak team and Bo Ra’s all better
His team comprises of Yeong Il and Dae Hae who’s eating whilst he watches Yeong Il work (seriously though, why does Soo Ho still have this guy around? What does he even do?). Ryang Ha immediately sets on Dae Hae who’s used more than the official lunch amount allocated to each employee. He points out that Dae Hae should be Soo Ho’s number one enemy (I agree) and instead he’s eating more than he should whilst using the company card. Dae Hae is of the opinion that Ryang Ha’s picking on him, especially considering the fact that Soo Ho’s not complaining anyway. Soo Ho really isn’t complaining, and is all smiles. Yeong Il comes to meet him and asks how the meeting with the potential investors went. Soo Ho replies that they have to come up with a game proposal and Dae Hae immediately cheers up as he says that Bo Nui’s the person who’s best at things like that. The words have Soo Ho smiling and Dae Hae wonders where Bo Nui’s at. Bo Nui’s at the medical center where she’s ever helpful to the patients. Bo Ra is now in a wheelchair, almost as good as new and Bo Nui’s focused on Bo Ra taking the high school equivalency exams. She scolds Bo Ra who still calls Gun Wook every night when he’s meant to be recovering from his tennis matches and then takes Bo Ra on a walk where she searches for a four-leaf clover for luck. Bo Ra asks Bo Nui if she’s truly happy and Bo Ra answers that she is. When Bo Ra mentions how wistful she sometimes feels, Bo Ra answers that there will be a shooting star in a couple of days and they can make a wish together. Bo Ra agrees but warns Bo Nui that she would have to jump through hoops to fulfill her wish.
10. The wait is finally over?
That night, Bo Nui looks up at the stars and remembers the date on the rooftop she’d had with Soo Ho. The memory has her tearing up and smiling all at once. Soo Ho meanwhile spots the cactus Bo Nui had gotten him and he smiles at the sight. The next morning Bo Nui’s all smiles and Bo Ra sends her off, happy as she tells Bo Nui that everything’s perfect and he’s probably waiting for her. She heads out with a big smile and Soo Ho also heads out with a gift bag in hand and a big smile on his face.
Character I wanted to bitchslap:
I just kept thinking that a bitchslap might be the auto reset she needs to get out of her, it’s all my fault way of thinking. Girl, shit happens. Bad shit. Nasty shit. Horrible shit. Unfortunate shit. None of it is your fault because… shit happens!!!!
Headache inducing moment:
Because seeing Dae Hae and seeing that he hasn’t seemed to learn a thing from what happened in the past is enough to give me a headache. Seriously though writer. Why bring him back? Why?!!!!!
This episode’s a Whiskey Sour. It’s pretty basic with a heaping of noble idiocy thrown in. Thankfully Ryang Ha and Dal Nim are there to give me comedic relief from Bo Nui’s noble idiocy in this episode.
