Everything goes horribly wrong as Bo Nui makes progress but a shattering accident might just put her right back where she started. Soo Ho continues to be a tower of strength, doing everything he possibly can to not put Bo Nui in a position to give into her fears. Bo Nui takes giant strides in letting go of her superstitions and the crutch they represent, but she suffers two blows that just might do damage to everything she’s strove to accomplish.
Top 10 Moments:
- Soo Ho speaks for all of us but Bo Nui’s still wavering
Soo Ho meets with Bo Nui and although she’s looks sad, he tells her not to worry and reminds her that Zeze had started small, so rebuilding wouldn’t be that big of a deal. What he wants though is to spend time with her as he hasn’t taken time off in seven years (wow. That’s a lot of time). At the movies, Soo Ho’s so engrossed that he doesn’t notice Bo Nui crying (girl, don’t be thinking about doing something stupid). Except, he does notice and brings it up. Bo Nui mentions that she feels it’s her fault and Soo Ho asks her if she’s an industrial spy or if she’s the one who had planted the ransomeware or if she’d prayed that “IF” should fail. He tells her that she didn’t do any of that, so it’s not her fault and then reiterates that he doesn’t want her to worry or doubt him. Except, back at home, Bo Nui has to keep telling herself that she’s not to blame, and she keeps hearing the Shaman’s words blaming her for all the misfortune.
2. The Zeze workers miss Soo Ho and Soo Ho’s got something up his sleeves
Dal Nim shares the news of Soo Ho relinquishing all his property with Amy who doesn’t get why Soo Ho’s going so far. Dal Nim though is worried because knowing Bo Nui, she’s sure Bo Nui is blaming herself for everything going wrong in Soo Ho’s life. Back at Gun Wook’s apartment, Gun Wook’s threatening to break off his contract with IM sports if they don’t withdraw the lawsuit. Seol Hee though tries to be the impartial intermediary and points out the fact that Gun Wook’s lost a lot in terms of his money and his tennis standing with the whole affair and it’s logical that the company is reacting that way. Gun Wook however wouldn’t hear of it and accuses Seol Hee of taking sides. Seol Hee frustrated, tells him to calm down and informs him of Soo Ho’s decision to step away from the company in order to reduce the media buzz. Gun Wook then wonders what will become of Soo Ho, just as we see Soo Ho transferring everything to Ryang Ha even down to his car keys. Ryang Ha doesn’t understand why Soo Ho’s doing this and we see the Zeze workers wonder the same thing as they hope everything gets resolved soon, so Soo Ho can return (awww. They miss their tyrant boss). Unknown to them however, Soo Ho asks Ryang Ha if he’s still keeping the secret about Dae Hae and insists that the Zeze staff cannot be allowed to find out, especially Bo Nui. They head out of Ryang Ha’s coffeeshop and Soo Ho spots Bo Nui on her way out of the office. He calls her, but she lies that she’s running errands and it would take a while.
3. Working out Soo Ho’s sleeping arrangements and the bromance kicks off with our two male leads
Ryang Ha helps Soo Ho move all his things out of the house, and cries that he wasn’t able to do anything to help his friend. Soo Ho tells him not to worry about it, pointing out that Ryang Ha is needed to keep an eye on the Zeze team for him, as well as to look after “IF”. Ryang Ha though is concerned about the immediate future and where Soo Ho will live and Soo Ho just smirks. The next thing we see, he’s at Bo Nui’s door, demanding that she let him stay (hahahaha. Naughty naughty boy). He tries to work the, he has nowhere to go angle but Bo Nui’s not buying it and next thing we see, he’s on the other side of the door with his bags with him (hahaha). When he reminds Bo Nui that he’s slept over before, Bo Nui looks like she’s weakened as she allows him in, only for her to tell him that she will go to the sauna. Stomped, Soo Ho tells her to head into her house and Bo Nui apologizes as she locks him out (hahaha). Gun Wook sees him and Soo Ho’s stomach grumbles. Next thing we see, Gun Wook takes Soo Ho out to a pojangmacha where Soo Ho asks about Mr. Choi. When Gun Wook replies that his father doesn’t want to come with him to Canada, Soo Ho points out that Gun Wook and his father now have more time together, meaning there would be lots of family visit. The words along with Soo Ho’s explanation that he’d quit at Zeze so Bo Nui and Gun Wook’s dreams about “IF” would become a reality has Gun Wook admitting that Soo Ho’s a good man. Soo Ho huffs at the fact that Gun Wook’s just realizing it (hahaha). Gun Wook then offers Soo Ho his place to crash at but Soo Ho grumbles that he doesn’t need the help because he has a girlfriend. When Gun Wook points to the fact that said girlfriend kicked him out, he grumbles as he wonders exactly what Bo Nui’s problem is (hahaha). We then cut to him dragging his luggage up to Bo Nui’s rooftop. Bo Nui tries to work up the courage to call, but he beats her to it and calls first, telling her that there are no stars out. She figures out that he’s on the rooftop and brings him to her house.
4. The first night
Inside the apartment, Bo Nui tells Soo Ho that he can only stay a night but Soo Ho turns it into him spending one night on the sofa, one in her room, one on her bunkbed and then totals it to him spending a month in her apartment (hahaha. For a maths genius, your maths suck). Bo Nui finally agrees to Soo Ho spending a week in her apartment and he’s delighted. The next hurdle then becomes him getting Bo Nui to wear his pajamas and he gets so delighted that he decides to try his luck and spend the night with her in her room. She pushes him out, warning him that should he try again, he’ll have to find somewhere else to sleep. He pretends that he’s okay with it, but the minute Bo Nui’s out of sight, throws a silent tantrum that he didn’t succeed (hahaha). Bo Nui meanwhile, is in her room, tearful as she remembers the words of the Shaman. She perks up though when she hears Soo Ho, who thinks she’s still asleep, thank her for letting him spend the night. He tells her good night and Bo Nui mouths a silent good night in return.
5. Trouble on the horizon but our geniuses are at work
Bo Ra has a dream about Soo Ho and Bo Nui happily running towards each other just as a car comes barreling towards them. Before the impact though, Bo Ra’s eyes pop open and she calls for Bo Nui (you have got to be kidding me. You can’t do this to me show. Especially because we all know that Bo Ra’s dreams always come true). Bo Nui, unaware of what’s going on with her sister wakes up that morning, thrilled to see Soo Ho who sends her off to work like a dutiful husband and then calls her around midday to inform her that he’s doing the dishes (hahaha. So cute). Except, when we cut to Soo Ho, he’s at Daebak office (the former office of Bo Nui and Dae Hae) telling Ryang Ha about his plan to come up with a restoration file for the ransomeware and distribute it for free so as to rebuild Zeze’s image in the eyes of the public. Yeong Il later joins them and he and Soo Ho get to work on cracking the ransomeware. Their actions are so similar and they’re so in sync that even Ryang Ha teases them on how alike they are. Although he’s quick to point out that it’s not only blood relatives that look alike. During his break from trying to crack the code, Soo Ho finally comes clean to Ryang Ha and tells him that the reason why he’s so focused on fixing everything whilst keeping the secret of Dae Hae’s involvement from Bo Nui is so that she wouldn’t conclude that everything is her fault and leave him.
6. Dal Nim realizes that she’s now in love with Ryang Ha
Bo Nui’s moment of solitude is interrupted by Dal Nim who asks her what love is. When Bo Nui defines it as something precious, happy, ardent and terrifying, Dal Nim smiles to see how happy Bo Nui is and points out that Bo Nui must really be in love. Bo Nui doesn’t deny it and Dal Nim expresses her desire to experience that kind of love. Distracted, she picks up a bottle with Gun Wook’s face slapped on the label and is horrified to discover that she no longer finds Gun Wook attractive, wailing that she wants him to look cheesier (hahaha). She races off to the cafe to meet Ryang Ha where they both stare silently at each other whilst Dal Nim screams internally about what to say. Ryang Ha finally breaks the silence by asking her if she’s eaten and Dal Nim calls him cheesy (hahaha. Talk about a compliment) and races off, leaving Ryang Ha to wonder why on earth he’d said anything in the first place.
7. Things are turning out to be okay
After work, Bo Nui and Soo Ho share a happy moment riding the bus together (really though. This two are so cute) and then continue that couple squee moment by getting ready for bed together. As they go through these activities, Bo Nui tells us that she desperately wants to believe Soo Ho’s words, his eyes and the time she spends with him. She wants to believe that everything will be okay. And that is exactly what Soo Ho’s working on as he continues to try and crack the ransomeware at night whilst Bo Nui sleeps. Morning has him meeting Seol Hee who informs him that she’d pushed with IM sports and had been forced to resign. Soo Ho acts all affronted that she shouldn’t have done so as it was something Zeze could have resolved on its own. When Seol Hee asks him if he’s teasing her, he breaks into a smile and Seol Hee is relieved that he’s back to being free with her, meaning they’re now friends. Over at the Zeze office, it’s discovered that suspicious maintenance guy is one half of tweedledum and tweedledee (remember them from episode 1? The Genius II stealers) and even as they’re feeling all outraged and wondering how the rat got in, Dae Kwon calls everyone’s attention to the fact that a restoration file for the ransomeware has been posted online for free to help restore the files on the computers of those who downloaded “IF”. The Zeze workers try it out and it works (yay!). Meanwhile, Soo Ho and Yeong Il congratulate themselves on a job well done and Soo Ho’s mother joins them, having been briefed by Yeong Il. Alone with Soo Ho, Soo Ho’s mother passes along a parcel filled with all the money Soo Ho’s been giving her over the years, stating that she’s been saving it so she could pass it onto him as a wedding gift. He tells her he doesn’t need it and his mother brings out the deed of the fishery stating that Soo Ho’s father has put it up for sale and Soo Ho can have the money when the fishery’s sold. Soo Ho tells her not to sell the fishery either and Soo Ho’s mother gets him to promise to let them know if he needs anything. She also gives him a pretty bag to give to Bo Nui.
8. Seol Hee apologizes and Bo Nui takes big steps all on her own
Seol Hee walks into the Zeze office, boxes packed as she informs them all that she’s left IM sports and will be moving out of the building. She then calls Bo Nui out for a private chat and apologizes for how pigheaded she’d been in pursuing Soo Ho and being convinced that he couldn’t like anyone else but her. She admits she’d been mean to Bo Nui and tells Bo Nui that her father had asked her to invite Soo Ho over to the States but Soo Ho had told her that he had no interest in leaving because he liked being with Bo Nui. Seol Hee smiles as she states that Soo Ho’s happy now and it’s all thanks to Bo Nui. Bo Nui admits that she’s always been jealous of Seol Hee who’s bright, bubbly and confident and Seol Hee admits that she had been jealous of Bo Nui as well. The two women laugh at the situation. Back at home, Bo Nui gets a call from Nurse Lee at the hospital who tells her the good news that Bo Ra’s all better now. Bo Nui rushes to go see her sister and tries to call Soo Ho so he could be her talisman and come with her. But, she changes her mind at the last minute and heads in alone to go see Bo Ra to whom she promises that everything will be alright now. As she walks away from Bo Ra’s hospital room, she tells herself that the curse’s been lifted and everything is fine now. When Soo Ho gets to Bo Nui’s apartment, he’s surprised to find that she’s brought out her bags of salt and red beans with a note that whoever wants the items can take them. He’s even more surprised and happy when he sees that she’s cleared her apartment of every superstitious paraphernalia and he pulls her into a hug as he tells her that he’s very proud of her. He’s way happier when he learns that Bo Nui went to see Bo Ra who’s recovered her voice, all on her own without needing him to be there.
9. Soo Ho prepares for a special date and Bo Nui learns the truth
When Bo Nui mentions that it will soon be a week, and so Soo Ho has to make plans to leave her apartment like they’d agreed, Soo Ho brings out the shopping bags he’d brought home and shows her the dress he’d bought her, saying that he wants her to wear something pretty for their special date, even as he reminds her that he likes to hear the word yes (awww. He’s going to propose isn’t he). Turns out that Dal Nim agrees because when Bo Nui tells her everything the next morning, Dal Nim concludes that Soo Ho is going to propose and states how amazingly good Soo Ho is at dating (I concur). Bo Nui smiles as she states that it’s probably because Soo Ho’s a genius. But, her smile falls as she asks Dal Nim if she’s now allowed to be happy. Dal Nim tells her that she should be and Bo Nui perks up. Soo Ho on the other hand is smiling at the ring box and getting flowers for Bo Nui, whilst Bo Nui smiles as she preps and heads out for their date. Except, she gets a call from Dae Hae (drats!) who has her come and get him at the police station. Whilst he’s there, being questioned by the police officer who states that the video footage showed that Dae Hae had brought the criminal in and left him there on purpose, Bo Nui hears as Dae Hae claims that he’d had no idea that the guy would install the ransomeware in the computer systems (double drats). He finally spots Bo Nui and begs her to convince the policemen that he’s innocent but Bo Nui’s had enough as she states that it is not her fault and it’s Dae Hae’s fault. She cries as she asks him how he could act like that, how he could let the man in and why it had to be him. Dae Hae’s confused as he wonders why Bo Nui is crying but Bo Nui leaves without answering him.
10. Back to square one?
Soo Ho waits for Bo Nui to show up at their agreed venue, unaware that she’s at the moment crying as she walks down the bridge and flashes back to all the superstitious things the Shaman has told her, blaming every bad thing that’s happened on her. She repeats it to herself that it’s not true and she’s not to blame, all the while Soo Ho’s at the restaurant practicing how to offer the ring to Bo Nui. The restaurant finally empties out and Bo Nui calls, tearful as she tells him that she misses him a lot and asks him to tell her it’s not true. Soo Ho runs to meet her and when Bo Nui sees him grinning at her from afar, with a bouquet of flowers in his hand, she sighs as she says it’s not true and if it was, Soo Ho wouldn’t be smiling as widely as he is at the moment. The two of them wait for the lights to turn pedestrian green and then run towards each other. Except, a car comes swerving in the light drizzle and Soo Ho spots it heading towards Bo Nui. Thinking fast, he runs and pushes her out of the way, and gets knocked down instead. As Bo Nui stares at him in horror, she remembers the Shaman’s words that even Soo Ho’s body will be taken from him because of her bad luck (seriously show, what the fuck?!!!!!).
Character I wanted to bitchslap:
No one in this episode. The annoying ones were few and far within and my gripes with the Shaman have more to do with the writer and with Bo Nui than the Shaman himself.
Headache inducing moment:
Because I saw that dress and recognized it as the the exact dress Bo Nui was wearing in Bo Ra’s vision and my heart started beating hard because I didn’t want anything happening to Soo Ho. Seriously though, Bo Nui’s come so far in letting go of the crutch that is her superstition and I didn’t want her reverting back to it. Turns out I was right to have been worried because the accident did happen. Fucking hell.
This episode’s a Bloody Mary because everything has gone to hell and the writer’s just pushed our hearts into a blender and pressed the pulse button. Like seriously? Come on! Bo Nui was making such huge progress and now this curveball’s thrown her way? I know the end result is for Bo Nui to realize all on her own that her superstitions are a crutch and nothing that happens is her fault, and I know the writer’s doing that by throwing every horrible thing that could possibly happen Bo Nui’s way. It might be for her growth but right now, it feels like I’m hurt and bleeding and I just want Soo Ho back with his three-quarter shorts and his dorky smiles.
