Joon Soo keeps making the situation worse because he just can’t keep a lid on his mouth and he’s brimming with idealism and misplaced trust. Gong Shim and Dan Tae have the sweetest date and Dan Tae sort of confesses to Gong Shim. Gong Mi’s ousted as a lying gold digger. Dae Chul’s close to discovering Soo Yong and Joon Soo’s close to discovering the truth.
Top 10 Moments:
- Dan Tae makes a big sacrifice for a friend who’s idealistically stupid
In the elevator, neither Dan Tae nor Joon Soo say’s what’s on their minds and then Dan Tae’s meeting Grandmother to whom he suggests they give up trying to find who kidnapped him (seriously Dan Tae? You’re doing this for Joon Soo who would most likely not have done the same for you? Pshaw!). When Grandmother presses, Dan Tae tells her not to bother as it’s just a thought that came to him. Grandmother though tells him that he can stop the search whenever he wants. Unknown to the both of them however, Joon Soo’s meeting Joon Pyo’s kidnapper at that exact moment and informing him about his suspicions that Dan Tae’s Joon Pyo (I’m sure you all can already guess who I’m going to be bitchslapping this episode). Dae Chul’s shocked but idealistically stupid Joon Soo makes it even worse by telling Dae Chul that should the DNA results prove that Dan Tae really is Joon Pyo, then he, his mother and Dae Chul have to give up their properties, and their positions and leave the company empty-handed. He even tosses in the fact that they have to beg Joon Pyo for forgiveness and when Dae Chul exclaims at it being impossible that Dan Tae is Joon Pyo and instead pushes for them to keep Dan Tae away from their family, Joon Soo reminds him that not only was Dan Tae kidnapped but his mother also died in the process. He tells Dae Chul that he’s giving him the final chance and that Dae Chul should sit still and not do anything (sure, wave a red flag in front of a bull and tell him to do nothing. See if he listens to you). From the office, he heads over to Gong Shim to whom he apologizes for having lied when they’d gone to the exhibition. He tells her that he likes her and Dan Tae and doesn’t want to lose either of their friendships (good luck with that). Gong Shim accepts his apology and Joon Soo heads home where he’s flooded with memories of his friendship with Dan Tae and what his family’s done. He cries himself to sleep and Dan Tae over in his apartment is also lost in thoughts of his friendship with Joon Soo and what he’s discovered. Unable to sleep, he heads to the hospital to visit his father whom he tells that he’s not so happy about coming close to the truth because he knows it would hurt Joon Soo and the mother he wants to protect. He makes up his mind to tell Joon Soo everything and calls Joon Soo, asking to meet the next day. Joon Soo also wants to meet Dan Tae but he’s conveniently not available for three days because he has to travel to China. The two of them agree to meet when Joon Soo gets back (and I can just bet that something will happen in the interim to muck things up even further *sigh*).
2. Gong Shim finagles her way into getting a date
Back from the hospital, Dan Tae runs into Gong Shim who’s braved the mosquitos to take her chance and ask him to come with her to the amusement park the next day. Dan Tae replies that he already had a meeting set up with a colleague and Gong Shim grumbles about her having guessed as much that he would tell her he already has plans. She starts reeling out the other days they can go but Dan Tae calls his colleague to lie about alternate plans having come up, meaning Dan Tae’s free to go with Gong Shim to the amusement park. She’s so thrilled that she spends the morning packing lunch for their picnic, although she feels the occasional twinge of her pain on the lower side of her abdomen. She doesn’t think too much of it though, and starts sorting through her closet for what to wear. Up on the rooftop, Dan Tae’s doing the same and when they both see each other, they’re wearing the same t-shirts as if they’d planned to go wearing couple clothing (hahaha. Cute). They then get into a mini argument about who should go get changed, and then all is forgotten when Dan Tae gets a good look at Gong Shim’s face. He points out that she looks very ill and suggests they push their date to another day so Gong Shim can get some rest. Gong Shim however isn’t willing to lose her chance at the date and instead lies that she’s alright.
3. Gong Mi gets busted
Gong Mi and her mother go to the department store to shop for some clothes. Unknown to Gong Mi, Joon Soo’s mother is are at the exact same store. When her mother heads into the changing room to test out one of the dresses, Joon Soo’s mother shows up and although Gong Mi tries to remain unseen, she’s spotted in no time by Joon Soo’s mother. And to make it even worse, Joon Soo’s mother is there with a friend who wants to try on some of the clothes as well. Except the store has only one changing room available (uhhhh, how realistic is that? Even small stores have at least two), and the store attendant announces it that Gong Mi’s mother is at the moment using the room (hahahaha). When she knocks to find out what’s wrong, Gong Mi’s mother, aware that she can’t be seen by Joon Soo’s mother runs out and away from the shop and uses the dress she was trying on, to cover her face (hahaha. This just made it so much more worse). She’s then chased by the attendants and Gong Mi excuses herself from Joon Soo’s mother. Her mother runs some distance away from the store and then returns the dress, pretending like she just wanted to use the restroom. She’s patting herself on the back on doing a good job and says as much to Gong Mi who joins her. But, she didn’t run far away enough and Joon Soo’s mother sees her. It’s all the confirmation she needs to learn that not only is Gong Mi Jae Boon’s daughter, but she’s also Gong Shim’s sister. Soon she’s sitting with Gong Mi who she asks to tell the truth of when she’s known that Joon Soo’s the heir to the company, seeing that Gong Mi can’t pretend to have been unaware when Gong Shim was a secretary at the company. When Gong Mi tries to pretend like she’d done it because Joon Soo had wanted his anonymity, Joon Soo’s mother doesn’t buy it. Back in the house, when Jae Boon tries to say it’s her fault, Gong Mi who’s officially crossed over into cuckoo land declares that it’s Gong Shim’s fault because if Gong Shim hadn’t gotten herself fired, then Jae Boon wouldn’t have had to fight Joon Soo’s mother and none of the things that happened would have happened (yeah keep telling yourself that oh delusional one). When her mother tries to set her straight on how it all actually went down, Gong Mi asks her mother to leave and then throws a tantrum befitting a spoilt brat.
4. Gong Shim and Dan Tae’s date
Thankfully, Gong Shim’s having a more fun time with Dan Tae on their picnic. Although they almost run into a little snafu when the first box of packed Gimpab has Gimpab with eggs in it. Just as he’s grumbling that Gong Shim’s already forgotten about his allergy, Gong Shim opens the other packed Gimpab with no eggs. Dan Tae gives her a look that she immediately declares as cheesy and which has Dan Tae going through his arsenal of cute faces (so cute). She almost gives away that she’s in pain and when Dan Tae points to her sweating, she lies that its the wig. Dan Tae believes her and soon they’re having a great time on the rides. But she can’t hold in the pain for too long and soon faints leaving Dan Tae to panic and call her name. He runs with her on his back to the hospital where she’s wheeled into surgery to remove her burst appendix.
5. Dan Tae proves that Gong Shim’s his number one love and Gong Shim gives a Gong Shimesque introduction to her future grandmother-in-law
The surgery’s a success and Gong Shim’s up when Dan Tae returns with an overnight bag he’d packed for her. He’s been gone for a while and still hasn’t eaten. But, when Gong Shim suggests that he can eat her hospital food, the nurse who comes in at that point states that Gong Shim can’t eat, drink water or get discharged until she lets out gas. When Gong Shim suggests Dan Tae go eat the hospital food in the cafeteria, he volunteers to starve alongside her for that night (Dan Tae turning down a meal? 😆 What a way to prove that he thinks she’s his number one). Dan Tae though, doesn’t let the talk of food distract him from scolding Gong Shim and warning her to not keep the fact that she’s ill from him again. The scolding session is interrupted by a call from Grandmother who Dan Tae’s stored as Star Group Queen, thus piquing Gong Shim’s curiosity andfjealousy. Dan Tae informs a worried Grandmother that he’s in the hospital with Gong Shim who’d gotten an appendectomy. Grandmother warns him to take good care of Gong Shim as women tend to take things to heart. And sure enough, Gong Shim’s taken the Star Group Queen name to heart and when Dan Tae won’t tell her who it is and instead wanders out of the room, she gets miffed. When the Star Group Queen calls, she answers and introduces herself as Dan Tae’s girlfriend. Grandmother can barely hold back her laugh and when Gong Shim repeats the words, and says she can take a message, Grandmother tells her there’s no need for one and hangs up, leaving Gong Shim wondering why Star Group Queen sounds so old (hahahaha).
6. Yet another reason why Dan Tae’s a perfect boyfriend/husband material
When Dan Tae comes back to the room, he’s not concerned about his phone or whatever calls he’s missed. Instead, he notices Gong Shim’s discomfort with her wig and when she tells him that it’s because she hasn’t washed her hair, he pulls out a dry shampoo from the bag filled with items he’d bought and proceeds to wash her hair. He notices her bald spot and even applies her medicine on it, hoping that her hair grows back out and she can say goodbye to the wig. Done with the wash, Dan Tae tucks Gong Shim in for the night, but she pops awake that night to smile at him. She’s still smiling when she gets to help him fasten his tie and smiles as she sends him off like a dutiful wife. However, she stops smiling when she realizes that if she farts, she has to go home, meaning, no more time with Dan Tae. (Girl, you’d better not be thinking of holding your fart in)
7. One more way to prove Dae Chul’s the kidnapper
Dae Chul, now aware that there’a chance that Dan Tae could be Joon Pyo remembers that Joon Pyo had been reluctant to let go of the identification necklace his Grandmother had given him and so Dae Chul had had to give him his army ring in exchange for it. Now thinking of the fact that the ring has his infantry and unit engraved on it, Dae Chul considers that he could just as easily be blamed for everything. Even as he has the thought, Joon Pyo is going through his father’s things which he’d had the cleaning staff of Star Group keep for him. As he goes through the bag, he sees a lockbox that has a wanted poster for Joon Pyo, the clothes Joon Pyo had had on when he’d been kidnapped and Dae Chul’s military ring.
8. Dae Chul’s close to finding Soo Yong and the two dads have a bonding moment
Dae Chul meets up with the military friend who’d told him where Soo Yong worked the last time. The man believing Dae Chul’s lies that he hadn’t seen Soo Yong the time he’d been at the arboretum gives Dae Chul Dan Tae’s aunt’s number. He calls her and they agree to meet in front of the hospital. Except Dae Chul hides and uses the opportunity to find out exactly who Soo Yong’s sister-in-law is. He’s surprised to recognize her as the woman in Dan Tae’s law firm and follows her into the hospital where he puts a goon on her tail to find out what room she’s heading to (no.no.no. See what your moronic ass caused huh Joon Soo?). Joon Soo’s mother on the other hand, has no idea what her brother is doing and instead reports the whole issue of Gong Mi being Gong Shim’s sister to Joon Soo’s father. Joon Soo’s father is surprised as the two girls look nothing alike and Joon Soo’s mother grumbles as she tells Joon Soo about the beat down she’d received at the hands of Gong Shim’s mother. At that moment, she sees yet another of Gong Shim’s mothers calls and ignores it. Meanwhile Gong Shim’s mother is on the other end of the call angry at everything and Gong Shim’s father gets pissed on her behalf and has her hand over the phone so he can handle things. Joon Soo’s father also collects his wife’s phone and promises to handle things. Both men are shocked when they hear the other person on the phone and soon they’re at a restaurant throwing barbs at each other. Until a Hye Eun Yi song comes on and they’re lost in the memories of when they’d both been at her summer concert. Soon they’re both happily shaking each other’s hands as they realize they’d been a part of her fan club (hahaha. These two dads are the best) when it was started. Next thing we see, they’re back home telling tall tales about how the other person had begged, with Gong Shim’s father saying Star Group won’t dare fire Gong Mi whilst Joon Soo’s father’s tells his wife that Gong Shim’s dad had begged on his knees and so they should just let Gong Mi keep her job. Both women believe it and are none the wiser (hahaha).
9. The married life must continue (hahahaha)
Dan Tae comes back to the ward, like a husband back from a day at work and when Gong Shim beams and rises to greet him, she lets out gas. They’re both depressed that she farted and when the nurse comes to ask if Gong Shim has let out gas, they both lie that she hasn’t (hahaha. Too cute this ones). The nurse is surprised as she figures Gong Shim should have farted and then be on her way already. But neither Gong Shim nor Dan Tae are willing to tell the truth and they agree that Gong Shim would have to spend yet another night at the hospital (hahaha. Hope you have insurance Gong Shim). Left alone, Dan Tae suggests they take a walk and whilst on their walk, admits that he likes spending time with Gong Shim, even when it’s nighttime. He then apologizes to Gong Shim stating that he’s not made her comfortable, hence the reason why she’d gone on their date even when she felt pain. When she tries to deny it, Dan Tae asks her to curse him instead, figuring that if he’d made her comfortable enough, she would have readily told him about not feeling well and asked that they move the date, instead of her being worried that the date won’t happen if they move it. Gong Shim smiles as she says she’s already cursing him in her head, and Dan Tae steps closer to her as he tells her that he has something to confess. He comes even closer still, till their mouths are almost touching and then breaks the moment by saying that he heard her fart in the hospital room (seriously writer? Let them kiss already! We all know Namgoong Min is an amazing kisser, courtesy I Need Romance 3). Gong Shim’s embarrassed and even more embarrassed when she farts again (hahaha).
10. Secrets are about to be spilled
Back from China, Joon Soo immediately has the hospital send him the results of the DNA test. He also has his entire family gathered with the claim that he has something big to tell them (seriously though dude. If Dan Tae didn’t think to switch his toothbrush and you break the news without him knowing first, that’s just invading his privacy. Again). He also calls Dan Tae to fix his meeting with Dan Tae for six that evening. When Joon Soo gets home, he tells him family members to wait just a little while before he makes his announcement and Dae Chul shifts uncomfortably in his seat. At that moment, the package arrives for Joon Soo who steps outside to view the results at the same time Dan Tae’s holding the wanted Joon Pyo’s poster in his own hands and telling himself that he would tell Joon Soo the entire truth about him being Joon Pyo and that he knows his mother is the suspect. That way, Joon Soo won’t need to commit any crimes to cover for his mother.
Character I wanted to bitchslap:
Because over the last couple of weeks, Joon Soo’s kept upping his idiocy meter and just when I think he can’t possibly do anything more stupid, he goes ahead and proves me wrong. So now he’s giving Dae Chul all he needs to now focus his attention on Dan Tae meaning Dan Tae’s father will soon be discovered. This idiot gives me a migraine.
Headache inducing moment:
Because in less than a minute, Joon Soo set things in motion that would have great consequences and the idiot doesn’t even know it. And the most annoying thing is with all this crap he’s pulled, the end of the drama will probably have him giving an apology and Dan Tae forgiving him in like two seconds or something. Argh! So annoying).
This episode’s an Guinness milkshake float. Bitter and harsh with the headache that’s Joon Soo’s behavior and how Dae Chul’s, the most inept villain ever seems to just have everything going well for him. But, it’s still creamy and just a bit sweet with the sweetness of Gong Shim and Dan Tae’s developing relationship. Those two are the only ones who made this episode bearable. Hopefully, they stay cute and in love.
