Sometimes we hear the truth about our developing emotions from the most unexpected places. Soo Ho continues to fall headlong in love and Bo Nui, our beloved raccoon is not too far behind. Our leads learn so much more about each other and create a bond that’s even stronger than any they’ve otherwise experienced.
Top 10 Moments:
- Bo Nui bonds with Soo Ho
After giving her the sweetest hug ever, Soo Ho and Bo Nui step out of the hospital where she asks Soo Ho if it’s a dream that she’s seen her sister’s face. Soo Ho smiles and tells Bo Nui that they should come visit Bo Ra a thousand more times. When Bo Nui makes to leave, Soo Ho offers her a ride home. She insists that her house is close by and Soo Ho seems to let it go, then catches up to her to insist that she must buy him lunch, with her being grateful and all (hahahaha. Just admit that you want to spend more time with her Soo Ho. And I notice you’re so much more different than your disinterested self during your first date together. Remember then?). They go to a nearby restaurant and considerate Bo Nui who remembers that Soo Ho can’t eat seafood offers for them to eat somewhere else because it’s an all-seafood menu. Except, it’s not totally an all-seafood menu and soon the waitress is bringing both their order whilst Soo Ho is cutely grumbling about Bo Nui not wanting to buy him a meal (hahaha. So cute Soo Ho). Bo Nui then takes the chance to ask why he hates seafood, considering his mother said he used to be crazy about it as a child. At first, it looks like Soo Ho wouldn’t give her an answer, but he finally manages to tell her that he almost drowned at sea and because of his amazing memory, he can’t forget the sensation and so he hasn’t been able to eat anything fishy since. After lunch, Bo Nui and Soo Ho have coffee together (Hehehe. I like how you both keep prolonging your time together), Soo Ho takes the opportunity to ask if Bo Nui also thinks she was responsible for her parents’ death when she was 16. Bo Nui admits to it, saying that she didn’t notice at first how living things around her got hurt and her parents had died on their way back from getting her concert tickets. When she continues that if she’d known earlier, she would have given Bo Ra up for adoption (wait, what?), Soo Ho asks why she would do that when she’s just about given up her life for her sister. As she explains that she worked and starved but was terrified of losing Bo Ra and so she woke up several times to touch her sister’s face, Bo Nui notices Soo Ho’s expression and guesses that he’s calling her pathetic, stupid and foolish in his mind. Soo Ho just replies that it must have been tough for her, a child, to have had to care for another child who was even smaller than her (awwww Soo Ho. You’re going to make me cry). Back home in their respective houses, Bo Nui and Soo Ho spend the night remembering their time spent together and whilst Bo Nui wonders why she’s thinking such thoughts, Soo Ho spends his night grinning.
2. Gun Wook decides to use the media for his search
The next morning, whilst Soo Ho is trying to teach himself how to talk nicely and ask Bo Nui how she’s doing (Gah! He’s so cute), Bo Nui is at the hospital, bearing gifts and asking the nurses how Bo Ra is doing. But Bo Ra already has a visitor in the person of Gun Wook who when he notices her questions about how Bo Ra looks asks if she wants to see Bo Ra. Bo Nui, delightedly tells him that she’s done so already, all thanks to Soo Ho. Gun Wook doesn’t look too thrilled although he doesn’t say anything. He does snap however when he notices someone who looks like Soo Ho hanging at the entrance to their apartment building, when they get back, and wonders what Soo Ho’s problem is, explaining to Bo Nui that Soo Ho had also hung around the house the night she hadn’t come home. He goes to confront Soo Ho only to realize that the person waiting isn’t Soo Ho but a reporter who’s learned that Gun Wook is looking for his father (why do I feel it’s the PI he employed that spilled the beans). Seol Hee apparently agrees because she frets about it most likely being the detective agency. Whilst she ponders on a way to shut up the media and Soo Ho suggests that doing so will just create more gossip, Gun Wook who hasn’t said anything so far pipes up that he will go on television, partly because now that the media has caught a wind of it, it would be difficult to get them to pipe down and partly because he’s willing to do anything to find his dad. Soo Ho agrees with the media being a boon as the news will spread faster because it’s about Gary Choi. Although Seol Hee is at first worried about the effect the media will have on Gun Wook and his image, she agrees, but says she will work on breaking the story in their own way. Soo Ho offers the help of Zeze in any way they might need it and both Seol Hee and Gun Wook look touched at the offer.
3. Jealous Soo Ho is adorably huffy
Wanting to have the game ready in time for Gun Wook’s approval and to also lend his strength towards his search for his father, Soo Ho puts his team to work by giving them yet another impossible deadline. He does relent slightly though in that he allows them to go on their pre-planned workshop (or barbecue fest as I like to call it), all so he can see Bo Nui smile (cute). When she gets a call and steps outside, curious Soo Ho follows. He is not however prepared for when Bo Nui thanks him for helping Gun Wook and calls him a nice tiger who’s been really nice to her good friend. Soo Ho decides to cash in her gratitude and asks her to dinner, and is disappointed when she says she already has plans (Awwww. Soo Ho). He’s even more huffy when he gets back to the office and sees Seung Hyun and Dal Nim drooling over Gun Wook’s pretty face. He stomps off to his office and so isn’t able to hear Dal Nim’s whispered words that Gun Wook can’t be compared to angels (hahaha. I take it the angel she’s referring to is Soo Ho).
4. Bo Nui has a date with Soo Ho’s mother
Turns out that Bo Nui’s plans are with Soo Ho’s mother who leads her over to Shaman Shin’s house. When Soo Ho’s mother goes on and on about how talented Shaman Shin is and how Bo Nui should get her fortunes told, Shaman Shin can only smirk until Bo Nui comes out and admits that she’s already acquainted with the good shaman (hahahaha. I swear, the man’s smirk is the funniest). Soo Ho’s mother initially asks Shaman Shin to check her compatibility with Bo Nui, but then asks about the raccoon and if it’s still hanging around Soo Ho. Shaman Shin’s smirk widens and Bo Nui silently screams at him not to say anything, but when Soo Ho’s mother repeats the question, Shaman Shin replies that he sees waves swirling around Soo Ho and so much so that soon, Soo Ho is underneath them. As Shaman Shin speaks, we see Soo Ho first moving Bo Nui’s gifts of a potted plant and a bottle of salt into his desk drawer, only to bring them right back out and place them on his desk where he then proceeds to smile goofily at them (he’s just too cute I tell you. Cute). After meeting with the Shaman, Soo Ho’s mother and Bo Nui have lunch where she learns that Soo Ho’s father had been the one to toss him into the sea on purpose. After lunch has them back at Zeze office where Soo Ho’s mother pretends not to recognize chicken Ahjusshi (awww, and he looks mighty sad at that as well). And in the office, Seung Hyun and Dal Nim are shocked to discovered the distorted face of Gun Wook on the prototype game they’d been working on (hahahaha. Soo Ho, you adorably jealous you).
5. Dae Hae is pretty smart when it comes to reading the signs
Later that night, Bo Nui meets with Dae Hae. She’d not only gotten him a job at a restaurant but she also decides to help him out by handing out fliers. She has no idea that Soo Ho had overhead her conversation with Dal Nim where Dal Nim wonders when Bo Nui will take the time to have some fun now that Bo Ra is awake, and so she is shocked when Soo Ho comes to collect a flier from her. When she tries to explain that she’s only doing it as payment for the water Dae Hae had sold her, he comes back to collect the rest of the fliers from her, just to help out. Dae Hae chooses the moment to try and sell his artificial intelligence ‘scheme’ and he doesn’t notice that Soo Ho is a moment away from snapping at him. Bo Nui who recognizes the telltale signs drags Dae Hae away from trouble to tell him not to try such stunts with Soo Ho. Dae Hae agrees although he grins widely as he says that he can smell something going on between Bo Nui and Soo Ho. When Bo Nui tries to deny it, Dae Hae points to Soo Ho’s hovering and then laughs as he says there’s nothing wrong with it and it’s all perfectly natural (hahahaha. The man might annoy me but right now I’m loving the unusual matchmaker that he is).
6. Chicken Ahjusshi puts things in perspective
Soo Ho’s mother ends up calling up Chicken Ahjusshi to blame her not acknowledging him whilst she was with Bo Nui, on her being possessed (hahaha. What a stupid reason). And as if that’s not bad enough, she also pushes some of the blame on Bo Nui who she says might gossip about them in the office. When Chicken Ahjusshi agrees, Soo Ho’s mother tells him to make sure to drink the carp juice she got him, and calls him ‘oppa’. Unfortunately for her, Soo Ho’s father is right behind her and overhears her conversation with the man.But disappears before she can turn around. Meanwhile, on Chicken Ahjusshi’s side, he ends the call only to come face to face with a scowling Soo Ho. Soo Ho though doesn’t bring up the fact that he’d seen Chicken Ahjusshi with his mother. Instead he grabs a glass of beer and takes a gulp, only to spill it out (hahahaha), as he complains to Chicken Ahjusshi that Bo Nui’s his problem. When he asks Chicken Ahjusshi if Bo Nui’s ever talked nonsense when she worked for him, Chicken Ahjusshi (you know what, this is all getting complicated, I shall be addressing him by his name from now on: Yeong Il) tells him that Bo Nui’s just worried that something bad would happen to him. Yeong Il points out the talisman Bo Nui had left in the shop and explains that Bo Nui was so scared of her bad luck rubbing off on him that she never let him deliver food or handle hot things or sharp knives. The words remind Soo Ho of Bo Nui saying that it’s her fault that Dae Hae’s sales had gone down and Yeong Il expresses Dal Nim’s desire that Bo Nui can just take a break and take some time for herself. The next morning, Bo Nui is surprised to see Dae Hae who Soo Ho had employed the previous night as a member of Zeze’s security crew (awwww. Soo Ho. You’re just amazing. Amazing I tell you). On their way to the office, Soo Ho makes sure to point out to Bo Nui that Dae Hae who she said had lost his job because of her, has now gained a new one because of her, so she should take it as something lucky happening to Dae Hae because of her. Bo Nui can only smile (and I’m right here smiling along with her).
7. Soo Ho the idiot
With everyone telling him that Bo Nui needs to take some time to relax, Soo Ho starts to put in motion, a plan to invite Bo Nui to the company workshop. Except, at that same time, Gun Wook who had offered for Bo Nui to accompany him on the television show, and who Bo Nui had turned down because she doesn’t want her bad luck rubbing off on him, is also on his way to invite Bo Nui to a picnic. Meanwhile, Seol Hee tags along with the employees on their company trip, thinking that she can use the opportunity to spend the day with Soo Ho. Soon, it’s a race between Soo Ho and Gun Wook as to who would get to Bo Nui’s first to ask her out. Soo Ho makes it first though and when Gun Wook calls to ask where she’s at, Bo Nui explains that she’s on her way to the workshop and we see in flashback that Soo Ho had offered to be her lucky charm and had insisted that she come to the workshop (hahahaha. I love this whole lucky charm talk. It’s the perfect excuse). She apologizes to Gun Wook and promises to hang out with him another time. Away from her phone, Bo Nui’s anxiety about her bad luck on their long trip rises and Soo Ho tells her to trust in him as a lucky charm and that nothing will happen to her. When Bo Nui asks him however if he’s interested in her, he suddenly swerves (hahaha. You just about gave him a heart attack with that question Bo Nui). He tells her not to say such nonsense and when Bo Nui points out all the things he’s been doing for her, he claims he’s done all that because she’s a bug with a superstitious virus (ouch. Seriously Soo Ho. Wrong thing to say. You’ll regret this when she doesn’t even consider you a romantic prospect). He then asks her if she likes him, or maybe hates him and when Bo Nui doesn’t answer, he gets all huffy (hahaha. Huffy Soo Ho is so cute. Not like I feel sorry for you Soo Ho. Why should you care if a bug with a superstitious virus likes you or not?).
8. Having fun at the workshop
Turns out Gun Wook decided to come to the workshop after all to try one more time to convince Bo Nui to agree to come with him for his television shoot and even him telling Bo Nui that since he got back to Korea, she’s been more of a good luck charm to him than anything else, isn’t enough to convince Bo Nui to say otherwise. Seol Hee is also delighted to see Soo Ho although he doesn’t pay any attention to her. His eyes are all for Bo Nui and even the camcorder he’s using to record the staff workshop keeps wandering back to her, to capture her smiles and her laughing with Dal Nim. The employees all go on a dirt bike race with Gun Wook turning the ride into a bet with Soo Ho, that would have the loser having to fulfill the wish of the winner. Seol Hee is surprised though to see Soo Ho ride into the finish line, whilst sharing a bike with Bo Nui and looking blissfully happy. He of course doesn’t let Bo Nui know how happy he is as he immediately starts to grumble about her driving skills. Bo Nui snaps back that he wasn’t that good a driver either, as he’d crashed the poor dirt bike he’d been driving. By the time Soo Ho notices that she’s criticizing him, Bo Nui laughs as she skips off. Gun Wook shows up after, dead last and whilst Seol Hee complains as to him coming last, Gun Wook’s eyes scan the crowd for Bo Nui and land on Soo Ho who who has his mouth covered and is laughing at him (Hahaha. He looks like a cute chipmunk). At the truth or dare game the bottle lands on Bo Nui and she has to answer a range of questions; questions ranging from whether she thinks Zeze’s a horrible place to work (which she answers as false and which has Soo Ho smiling), to whether Soo Ho has a bad temple (which she answers as true and which has Soo Ho scowling. Hehehe). Both Soo Ho and Gun Wook are interested when she’s asked if she’s dating anyone and Gun Wook looks relieved when she says False whilst Soo Ho doesn’t look happy (dude, you called her a bug. You can’t expect more). When suspicious Seol Hee asks if she has a crush on anybody, Soo Ho’s visibly disappointed when she answers false. He’s also not around (having been called by Ryang Ha to come help with the barbecue grill) when she exclaims a No at the employee who asks if she and Soo Ho are secretly dating.
9. Bo Nui feels the first pangs of jealousy
After the fun and games, Soo Ho takes a walk by the lake and Seol Hee runs to come and meet him, wondering if he’s okay now that he’s beside the water. Soo Ho scoffs saying that he’s an adult now and his fear of water as a child is so far away and Seol Hee brings up the fact that he might be an adult but he’s an adult who hasn’t had much experience with women. When he expresses surprise at that, she informs him that Ryang Ha had filled her in on the fact. Soo Ho just continues walking and Seol Hee runs to his front to ask him what he thinks about her because she used to be the only one for him. She asks him if she’s wrong and Soo Ho only stares at her. Gun Wook meanwhile, is also away from the rest of the party and is on the phone with his mother who insists that he can’t let go of his fame just to find his father. She insists that she won’t let him find his father and says she’s going to cancel his contract with IM sports as she can’t believe Seol Hee is letting him go on with the search (woman, he’s a full-grown adult. You can’t go cancelling his contract without his consent). Bo Nui who had overheard the entire conversation changes her mind about not going with Gun Wook to the television shoot and Gun Wook is delighted to hear that she’s now going. The two of them walk back and run into Soo Ho in what appears to be a romantic moment with Seol Hee; a moment that is actually, Soo Ho trying to get a butterfly off of Seol Hee’s hair. Gun Wook notes the hurt on Bo Nui’s face but says nothing about it.
10. It’s Bo Nui’s turn to care for Soo Ho
Whilst Bo Nui is dropping off a drunk Dal Nim in the same room as a drunk Ryang Ha (oh, that’s going to be an interesting entanglement), Seung Hyun comes to show her the fun activity, the employees had planned for a kidnapped Soo Ho: tossing him into the pool (No.No.No. This is not good. Not good at all). Bo Nui immediately runs out, but she’s not fast enough to stop them from tossing Soo Ho into the pool. When she shouts at the other employees for almost killing Soo Ho, Soo Ho tells her not to cause a fuss and walks away, with Bo Nui trailing behind him. When he finally finds a corner to himself, he repeats that she shouldn’t make a fuss because he doesn’t want the employees to know. Bo Nui snaps, wondering why he’s handling it all alone when she wants to help. She points to all the instances he’s helped her with Bo Ra’s situation and now she wants to help. He agrees and soon they’re both in his car with Bo Nui at the wheels. She apologizes for unknowingly saying he’s been a bad son to his father without getting all the facts and Soo Ho tells her that he’s not had a particularly close relationship with the man because he went abroad at the age of 11 and even for the 10 years he’d been at home, he hadn’t spent so much time with his father. When Bo Nui expresses surprise that he had gone off alone at such a young age, Soo Ho explains that it wasn’t any different abroad because they world is filled with people who don’t understand him. What they do instead is observe him like an oddity; an animal in the zoo. Bo Nui concludes that he must have been lonely; like a child locked in a cave. She explains that she’s always thought him lucky because he’s smart, competent, charming and with healthy parents and so she’s surprised that he’s actually a lot like her (awww. Lonely calls to lonely huh? Kind of like Hae Young’s unhappy calls to unhappy talk. Sweet). When Soo Ho starts to have an episode, Bo Nui pats his back and reminds him that her doing that is no big deal as she’s vomited in his presence before. The words make Soo Ho smile, which Bo Nui is delighted to see as she settles beside him on the roadside curb and tells him that she now considers them both equals. She takes Soo Ho home to his house and even ignoring Gun Wook’s calls to take care of Soo Ho. As she looks at his sleeping form, she tells him that she doesn’t hate him, how could she when he’s such a good person? She adds that no matter what anyone else says, Soo Ho has been warm and sweet and friendly to her, and she wants to be the someone like that to him as well, but she can’t and she shouldn’t and so he shouldn’t fall ill. She makes to leave but Soo Ho stops her and tells her not to leave him.
Character I wanted to bitchslap:
Not adorable Gun Wook, but his mother on the other end of the line who because of her own bitterness and anger is insisting on making him miserable and taking control of his life. Like seriously woman, let him go.
Headache inducing moment:
I’d already started hyperventilating when she said it because I could already envision the myriad of ways this could go wrong. Like Soo Ho could pass out or drown. Plus even if the pool is shallow, someone who is deathly afraid of water being tossed into a pool is bound to suffer physically and mentally and I didn’t want Soo Ho going through that.
This episode’s a Mango Mint Rum Slush. It’s sweet and fresh and bright and makes us happy. So happy to see Soo Ho falling in love and Bo Nui slowly turning around to meet him at that point. They’re such a sweet couple and so refreshingly different that it gives us all the feels. Here’s hoping they end up together soon and that their bond stays strong.
