And the truth just keeps right on coming. Hae Young shares the truth with the rest of the city. CEO Jang tells us more truth we didn’t see coming. Do Kyung stays an idiot for most of the episode, but thankfully redeems himself at the end. Hopefully, he didn’t come to the decision too late.
Top 10 Moments:
- Do Kyung’s crew try to cheer him up and fail
Well aware that Do Kyung’s still depressed about what happened, Hoon has one of the sound crew guy tell a lame old joke to get Do Kyung to laugh. It fails spectacularly as Do Kyung maintains his straight face and the guy beats himself up for falling for Hoon’s tactics. The second guy though attempts his own corny joke, which makes Hoon laugh, but Do Kyung just continues to look stern as he puts them all to work.
2. Hae Young gets wasted and blabs to the entire city
After spending the night moping, Hae Young wakes up in the morning to grab a big jar of wine from the kitchen and head back into her room to get sufficiently wasted. (Seriously girl, you’ve got to do something about your coping mechanisms. Your drinking has me worried. This will not end well will it?) When she wakes up, she looks a wreck and switches on the radio (Ha. I see you there Marriage not Dating OST. Nice!) to cheer herself up. Except, dancing is not enough, so she switches to another station where she happens upon an advice program and decides to call (this show also happens to be the one Jin Sang’s listening to on his way to work). Thankfully, she not only requests to have her voice modulated (to keep from getting recognized) but she also asks that her name not be revealed (to keep her anonymity). With those things confirmed, she gets into her story, talking about this awesome girl who shared the same name with her in her school. But now, the guy she used to like used to be engaged to this girl (at this point, Jin Sang’s ears are perking with the whole, nah, it can’t be the person I think it is, calling), but their wedding fell apart, and because he was trying to get revenge on his ex, he accidentally ruined her own wedding thinking he was ruining his ex’s wedding. When she wails about not knowing what to do, the OAP tells her to sleep. She shouldn’t worry about anything, she shouldn’t go on blind dates, she should just eat and sleep, and do it all over again (It’s decent advice when you consider that what he’s basically telling her to do is take it one day at a time). When Hae Young becomes upset, he tosses another nugget of wisdom at her: be reborn (also not bad advice because what he’s basically telling her to reinvent herself). But, when you’re in an alcohol infused pity party, you tend to not see the logic in what someone else is saying which is why Hae Young goes on a rant till she ends it with her wish to kill both that man and Oh Hae Young. Oops. That’s a big slip. A big slip. Except Hae Young doesn’t even get what she’s done, claiming that she told the station the girl’s name not hers. It takes the OAP reminding her that she’d started her tale by informing them that she and the woman shared the same name for it to sink in for Hae Young. At that point though, it’s already to late. The whole city has started to laugh. It doesn’t help matters either that the man offering her advice in trying to comfort her about her name not being a big deal keeps repeating said name. At the end of it, everyone, including her mother now know her story.
3. Those who love Hae Young come to her rescue
Following the aftermath of that very public humiliation, everyone is talking and calling everybody about Hae Young. Thankfully, she still has people in her corner. From, Hee Ran who calls Hae Young to leave the class group chat without checking the messages and follow it up by switching off her phone, and who snaps at those calling her about the news to basically get a life and leave Hae Young be. To her who mother snaps at the nosy neighbor coming to ask how Hae Young would fall for someone like that, then snaps at a group of nosy neighbors gossiping outside their house, and then snaps at the person who called her husband, trying to confirm if it was Oh Hae Young, only to find out that it was her mother-in-law (hahaha). To her team leader and teammates who interrupt a gossiping session by her colleagues laughing at her expense, to basically tell them off for not being considerate enough to imagine that if it was their sister dealing with such, they wouldn’t be laughing. Even Soo Kyung isn’t left out as she walks up to the other Hae Young to tell her that all of this is basically her fault and so she should be remorseful. And then there’s our sound crew who were initially laughing at the recording only to realize when Hae Young says her name, who she is, and panic to delete the recording before Do Kyung can listen to it, only to fall into the duckling row behind him (Hahaha. That sight wouldn’t cease to make me laugh).
4. Do Kyung is still an idiot
Whilst Hae Young is getting smacked by her mother for still liking Do Kyung, even with all the mess he’s created; the idiot stands outside his house moping. Soo Kyung shows up however and spots her brother and tells him that for the first time in forever, she’s disappointed in him. But rather than hit him, which Jin Sang later revealed he’d thought would happen, she hugs him instead, telling Jin Sang that he needs it because he’s in a lot of pain. When Jin Sang asks the man who is in a lot of pain, whether he’s spoken to Hae Young, Do Kyung tells him that he hasn’t even called her because he doesn’t know what to say. The words that readily come to mind are apologies and they aren’t worth saying (but still Do Kyung. She wants to hear them from you! Dude!). Of course when Jin Sang suggests telling her he loves her, Do Kyung equates the words with flattery and doesn’t think it fits the situation (so telling the woman you love that you love her even in her most darkest moment doesn’t fit the situation? You idiot!). Back at home, Hae Young switches on her phone and checks the calls and messages but sees none from Do Kyung. As the reality of it all sinks in for her, Do Kyung is outside her gate, shoving his feet like an idiot and trying to work up the courage to call her. Except, when he does call, it’s at the exact moment Hae Young switches her phone back off (dude, you had your chance. I don’t even feel sorry for you).
5. Do Kyung’s mother remains a class-A act
Do Kyung’s mother shows up the next morning when Do Kyung’s not at home and the first thing she does is to ask a surprised Hoon how long he’s going to continue to freeload off his siblings (wait what? Says the woman who has been hustling her son for money since the first episode!). Thankfully, Soo Kyung cuts through the bullshit quick. When asked what she’s doing in the house, Do Kyung’s mother announces that she’s getting married (third time’s the charm?) and that she wants Do Kyung to send 7 million Won to her account (what the? Woman, get the fuck out of here). At the astonishment of her kids, Do Kyung’s mother claims that sending her the money shouldn’t be a big deal (says someone who probably can’t afford to give someone else that amount of money) since she’s going to be bringing in a whole lot more. She is marrying up anyway. Soo Kyung corrects her that none of them want her money since they all have jobs and are doing just fine (you tell her Soo Kyung!). Do Kyung’s mother who has to have the last word grabs her daughter’s face and tells her plainly that she’s not aging well and she looks older than her mother. Besides, Soo Kyung doesn’t need to get married thrice, but shouldn’t she at least try it out once. (I can’t even… What a?! What kind of mother is this? Who says this to their kid?!).
6. Soo Kyung and Jin Sang are told the good news
After the outrageous meeting with her mother, Soo Kyung and Jin Sang head out together to take the bus. Except Soo Kyung spends the time sleeping, and when the bus comes to a sudden stop, she goes tumbling forward. She does manage to stick it in her famous, leg stretched out pose, but she’s not fooling anyone. Jin Sang barely manages to hustle her out of the bus by keeping her face covered with his bag and hers, not like she’s grateful, as she accuses him of gaping at her embarrassing tumble. She barely finishes speaking when she goes down in a dead faint and Jin Sang has to take her to the hospital. Upon getting to the hospital, the doctor simply tells Soo Kyung that she needs to take better care of herself as she’s pregnant. The news is shocking to Soo Kyung but Jin Sang is all happy for her, thinking that the baby is for her ex-boyfriend and having no clue whatsoever that the baby is his (oh, it’s gonna be good when the news sinks in for you Jin Sang). He even goes as far as to berate her for her and her ex not taking precautions and being like him who makes sure he always has condom on him (oh it’s gonna be soo good when it all sinks in. Hope the duckling squad is available. You gonna need them).
7. Do Kyung remains an idiot
Hae Young leaves her house in a rage and her mother tosses out a ‘You rip him apart’ advise as she walks out (I’m guessing idiotic Do Kyung still hasn’t called her yet). She gets to her former room and is shocked to see Do Kyung sitting in the semi dark, the only illumination, the lamp he got her, even as he plays music from the music box he got her (I’ve got to say, he might be an idiot right now, but he’s a miserable looking idiot). But of course, instead of admitting that he misses her which is why he’s in her house, he just tells her that she had a knock on her door for a delivery, hence the reason why he’s there (doesn’t explain why you have the light on and are listening to that music box though). He makes to leave but is stopped by Hae Young who asks if he’s not going to ask her if she’s alright. He admits to knowing that she is not okay. Hae Young admits that she is not okay. She can’t sleep because she’s mad and can’t sleep because she misses him. She looks so tearful saying it and Doo Kyung looks so tearful hearing her say it that he walks up to her and enfolds her in a hug and then nails their relationship shut by telling her that she should curse at him and move on with her life and if she can’t curse him alone, she should get together with others and curse him. He tells her to call him any time she wants, he would always pick up, and if she wants to torture him, she can do that as well. Hae Young doesn’t want all that though. What she wants is to continue seeing Do Kyung at least until things are easier for her. She asks that they keep seeing each other without anyone knowing and then later break up. Do Kyung though insists on the break up, especially now that he’s the bad guy. To add insult to injury, he wants to drive Hae Young back to her house. Hae Young thankfully, isn’t having any of that and heads home on her own. The next morning, her father comes to get all her stuff.
8. Do Kyung defends his mother
Whilst at CEO Jang’s 70th birthday celebration which doubled as his wedding to Do Kyung’s mother, Do Kyung watches the proceedings, apart from the crowd whilst CEO Jang’s daughter, Young Joo can barely contain her disgust. She spots Do Kyung and walks over to him and cattily talks about the marriage, asking him how he feels about his new stepfather and the money that was surely the reason for the marriage. She digs the hole even further by calling Do Kyung’s mother lousy (Hey! We’re the only ones allowed to call her that. You aren’t!). Her father comes over to tell her to smile as no matter how many wives he has, she would inherit it all anyway. Young Joo gives Do Kyung a side smile, and it’s a smile he doesn’t even notice as he’s too pissed on his mother’s behalf for having to kiss up to her new husband. Things come to a head when Young Joo comes to meet Do Kyung’s mother whilst she’s greeting her guests and basically tells her that when she starts to pull at her hair, Do Kyung’s mother should know that CEO Jang is bored with her and has thus given his daughter the signal to bother her. This doesn’t bother Do Kyung’s mother who smiles through it all, but then Young Joo implies that she killed her ex-husbands to get their money. The words infuriate Do Kyung who heads over to her and drags her to come and apologize to his mother. The situation dissolves into a screaming match with both women pulling at each other’s hair (Gah! Now I wish Soo Kyung had been there. She would have knocked down the bitch in one satisfying punch). When his mother comes to meet him after it’s all ended asking why he did it, he begs her to let them not live so pathetically. Do Kyung’s mother cries that it’s the only way she knows how to restore Do Kyung’s father’s lost fortune and regain the respect of her children. She starts to cry when he tells her that the mother he didn’t hate, was the one without money.
9. Tae Jin is an idiot & CEO Jang is sly fox
Whilst Young Joo is screaming to her father that she wants justice for what Do Kyung did to her, CEO Jang helps us see in flashback the reason why he’d pulled out his investment. Turns out that whilst Tae Jin had been working hard at expansion, just like he’d promised CEO Jang he would should he get the investment funds, his partner (shady lawyer) had been messing things up by getting loans to buy his merchandize which have in turn led to the sales increase. This is what made CEO Jang decide to pull out his investment. So it was after he’d reached the decision that Do Kyung had asked him to pull out his investment. He now scoffs at Do Kyung thinking he has such power and asks his assistant to call Tae Jin so Tae Jin can get his revenge. CEO Jang, you sly fox you! I hope all your hair falls out! And your teeth too!!!
10. Do Kyung comes to a decision and gets his head out of his ass
After a night spent crying (idiot! Just go to her!), Do Kyung heads to a field to record and give himself the time to think and whilst there, he gets his visions in quick flashes. First is a vision of his mother pleading with him to come along and beg CEO Jang. Next is Tae Jin telling him that it might have taken a while but they’ve finally ended up with the right people (I hope he doesn’t mean he ended up with Hae Young and you ended up with other Hae Young, Do Kyung). Then it’s the landlord’s son, asking if he’s still interested in buy-ing his father’s house. The Tae Jin stepping into Hae Young’s room which has now been turned into a studio and asking him how it feels to now use the studio his father once used. Tae Jin asks if he’s heard from Hae Young and Do Kyung’s disembodied voice asks why she would call him. Then Hoon asks how his blind date went and Do Kyung’s voice replies that he didn’t like her, even though Hoon says he should see her again to be polite. Then Soo Kyung tells him that one Hae Young left the company but the other Hae Young is still at the company. When she asks him which Hae Young he thinks left, he says he doesn’t want to know. Then we see Hae Young pass by him from his point of view without even acting like she sees him. And then we see the accident as he flashes back to all his time with Hae Young and starts to say “I’m sorry” over and over, and then just as his eyes close, “I love you”. Back in the field, Do Kyung sheds a tear, then heads to his car to cry his eyes out. With his mind made up, he calls his very proud of him psychologist to inform him that he won’t die with regrets but will go all the way to where his heart takes him and then he proceeds to drive like a madman to get there in time. Hurry! But do not get hurt on your way Do Kyung.
Character I wanted to bitch slap:
Girl, we don’t care that Do Kyung’s mother is a real bitch. We’re the only ones allowed to say that. Besides, she might be a money grubber but she’s no murderer and all you did was bring back Do Kyung’s memories of how his father died so screw your ass. Now I wish Soo Kyung was there to punch you in your face as well. Bitch!
Headache inducing moment:
And this is not just because of the smeared lipstick. I cringed when I saw this happen because I could see it coming a mile away, from when she drank to when she turned on the radio to when she called. She’s so raw and vocal about her hurts that I knew she was going to say something that would make it all worse. And I was right.
Still more tears so keep drinking that Margarita. The only consolation though is that things seem to be perking up? So take a squeeze of that lime and let’s be zestful about the coming episodes. Ne? (Prays that it gets better).
