Even after ten years, sometimes the truth can deal you a sucker punch. Everyone learns the truth: from Geu Rin who now realizes all the signs she’s been missing, to Seok Ho who’s been hit with the truth, to Ddanddara who realize that someone in their midst has way more money that they can imagine or dream. The truth always finds a way out, we just have to learn to deal with the consequences.
Top 10 Moments:
- Joon Suk learns that Ddanddara will be performing the stolen song
Because Choi Joon Ha has been out of the public eye for years (something tells me he’s still battling with guilt over the role he played in Sung Hyun’s suicide), the producers for the Legend Again show (where young artists are given old classics to sing and give their own spin to) reach out to Joon Suk, to find out if he knows where Choi Joon Ha is at. When Joon Suk asks who will be performing the song, he’s informed that it’s Ddanddara. He laughs hysterically, amazed at what Ha Nuel and Seok Ho are dipping their toes into and states that Choi Joon Ha can never come out of hiding.
2. Seok Ho tells Ha Nuel the good news
When Ha Nuel asks him to accompany him on a drive so he can further practice his driving skills (I’m guessing he’s hoping he can drive Geu Rin to their date), Seok Ho uses the opportunity to share the good news about getting Ddanddara on a TV pilot to practice a classic song. Ha Nuel might not know the song (Hahaha. The kid’s too young), but he does know that it’s big responsibility. Seok Ho on the other hand believes they can make it into an even bigger hit and put Ddanddara band’s name on the map. I feel the angst coming and it’s going to be bloody.
3. Jae Hoon’s mother compromises
Whilst the band’s eating, Jae Hoon’s mother makes an appearance, complete with toiletries, a list of nutritious meals that Jae Hoon should be eating and a debit card to pay for all their expenses (which Geu Rin gratefully accepts. Ha!). She also drops the message that Seok Ho should stop sending her pictures of Jae Hoon drumming. Awww. That’s her way of giving approval to her son’s dreams. How cute.
4. Min Joo and Yeon Soo are tabloid fodder
Turns out the night when Ga Eun came to see Yeon Soo and Chan Hee, and broke their hearts in the process, Min Joo’s offered comfort was captured by passing tabloid reporters, who recognizing that Min Joo’s an heiress and she’s holding a little boy whose face is hidden and a man whose head is bowed, ran a story about Min Joo being married and having a kid. At least they didn’t recognize Yeon Soo and put his name in the news. Everyone is shocked at the fact that they’ve been living with an heiress all this while (I see the sad look in your eyes Yeon Soo), whilst Min Joo’s father looks like he’s hoping there’s some level of truth in the tabloid news (Hahaha. Papa wants her to settle down pronto). Plus, he’s delighted that the secret she’d so desperately wanted to keep, about being his daughter, has been revealed.
5. Joo Han still hasn’t learnt his lesson
When Joon Suk finally meets with him, Joo Han hands in his resignation letter. Joon Suk however, just laughs at the act and implies that Joo Han let bygones be bygones, since all the goodwill he’s been receiving so far have been because a lot of people know that he took the fall for Joon Suk. Joon Suk then asks Joo Han to help him find Choi Joon Ha, and when Joo Han looks distrustful, Joon Suk says no harm will come of it. Joo Han, if you actually believe the guy, then yup, you’re even more stupid than I’d initially thought.
6. Geu Rin shows which man she prefers
After closing up for the day, a honk from Seok Ho’s car has Geu Rin grinning widely as she remembers that he promised to take her to see flowers once he gets his license. Except, the person in the car is Ha Nuel. Her smile falls at the sight, then falls some more when she realizes that Ha Nuel also promised to take her to see flowers (Ha Nuel poor boy. You’ve been forever brother-zoned). Geu Rin, being her oblivious self as always complains to Ha Nuel about the fact that Seok Ho made promises to her and didn’t keep it. You can practically see his heart breaking as the extent of Geu Rin’s crush on Seok Ho sinks in for him.
7. Seok Ho and Geu Rin go to dinner as Ha Nuel and Yeon Soo have theirs
Upon seeing that Geu Rin is fixated on Seok Ho, Ha Nuel drops her off at the Mango office where Seok Ho’s still at work. He takes her to the dinner, and on the way notes Geu Rin’s grumbling about him forgetting his promise to see flowers, with a smile on his face. They eat a large meal and discuss about Ddanddara’s TV spot on the music show. At the same time, Ha Nuel’s at a restaurant he’d booked for himself and Geu Rin. After realizing that Geu Rin likes Seok Ho, Ha Nuel calls over Yeon Soo, who knows even without Ha Nuel speaking that his friend is heartbroken (the bromance in this drama kills me!).
8. Geu Rin finally connects the pieces
Whilst Yeon Soo is with Ha Nuel comforting him, and Ha Nuel decides to not let Geu Rin know about his feelings for her so as not to take away from her happiness with Seok Ho, fans take a picture of them together and upload it. Kyle, pissed that Ha Nuel and Yeon Soo are having all the fun without him sends the picture to Seok Ho who shows it to Geu Rin. Seeing the white roses and remembering that Ha Nuel said he was going to take her to see some flowers, Geu Rin pieces it together. When she tries to reject the possibility, she remembers all the little instances when Ha Nuel had shown her that he cared. When she gets home, Ha Nuel tries to pretend like the roses were from a fan, until she straight up asks him if he likes her. He says that he does… as a brother (dope! Dude, why? Why?).
9. CEO Byun comes clean to Seok Ho
After dealing with his guilt about what happened, and worried that Ha Nuel would be hurt by the revelation, CEO Byun asks Seok Ho to not go on the show. Seok Ho who is considerate of the band members and how excited they are about getting on the show doesn’t buy CEO Byun’s lack of a valid reason for why the boys can’t sing the song or go on the show. Frustrated, CEO Byun’s blurts out the truth, that the sung is Sung Hyun’s, not Choi Joon Ha. He hadn’t been able to stop Joon Suk, and by the time either he or Sung Hyun had realized the truth, Joon Suk had already released the album.
10. And the bomb keeps right on dropping
Hearing this has Seok Ho’s whole world turning upside down. Realizing that there is so much more that he has no idea about, he asks exactly what happened whilst he was in Moscow: Did Sung Hyun actually die of a heart attack? CEO Byun, not able to maintain the lies, comes clean. After learning of the betrayal, Sung Hyun jumped off the Han River Bridge. Overcome with emotion, and raging at the injustice of it all, Seok Ho promises to kill Joon Suk (and honestly, I hope you succeed!).
Character I wanted to bitch slap:
Anyone who is so happy at the future pain Seok Ho and Ha Nuel would face deserves to be slapped. Remembering that he caused Sung Hyun’s suicide has me wanting to bash his face in as well. Asshole!
Headache inducing moment:
This was such a second lead move that I was yelling at Ha Nuel. Sure Geu Rin likes Seok Ho, but she’s not in love with him yet. I kept shouting at him to go back, try his luck but of course he didn’t. That boy!
This episode’s a Mai – Tai, sweet with all the cuteness that is Ha Nuel and Seok Ho, trying in their own little ways to show the girl that they like, that they like her; heartwarming with the comedic timing of everyone suddenly treating Min Joo like she’s a princess because of the sudden discovery of her heiress roots, and potent with the pain and urgency that comes with the discovered betrayal Sung Hyun had suffered and a desire to right the wrongs.
