Remembering Jo Deul Ho’s words at his celebration party, Chief Prosecutor Shim’s investigators storm the firm and pick up Dae Soo and Ae Ra. They’re taken to the interrogation room where they’re accused of false charges and although Ae Ra has Eun Jo in the room with her to help with the interrogation, Dae Soo’s left to his own devices. Thankfully, Deul Ho arrives in time to put the prosecutor in his place and rise to Dae Soo’s defense. Deul Ho’s awesome that way :).
2. Ji Wook’s still blind

Ji Wook thinking of what exactly has Deul Ho targeting his father asks chief prosecutor Shim if he did something wrong to Deul Ho. Chief prosecutor Shim feigns innocence until Ji Wook drops the bomb that he’d spoken to Myung Soon, their former housekeeper whose name Ji Wook used to maintain his stolen funds account. Chief prosecutor Shim pushes Ji Wook’s doubts away and says that he although he used the account, the money in it was not the kind of money Ji Wook thinks it is. When Ji Wook presses, chief prosecutor Shim shuts it down with a ‘don’t you trust me’. Truly prosecutor Ji Woo, you’re not a smart man if you still trust your father after all the signs are pointing otherwise.
3. Il Goo’s death was not an accident
A flashback takes us back to chief prosecutor Shim meeting with a henchman by the riverside to give him instructions on arranging an accident. And the killer even had the audacity to come to Il Goo’s funeral to fake cry. Argh!
4. Jo Deul Ho requests to be called in as a witness
After handing the congressman the ledger containing the list of people and the amount Chairman Jung had bribed them with, the congressman explains to Deul Ho that the list alone is not enough to connect chief prosecutor Shim with the chairman which leads Deul Ho to request to be called in as a witness at chief prosecutor Shim’s confirmation hearing. The congressman warns Deul Ho to be sure of what he’s doing as one wrong move might just lead to chief prosecutor Shim being exempted instead. Deul Ho promises to bring proof and witnesses to back him up at the hearing.
5. Jo Deul Ho loses his first witness
After receiving a text from chief prosecutor Shim to come out, Myung Soon who Dae Soo and Eun Jo had stored at a safe house sneaks out without them noticing and gets into the car chief prosecutor Shim sent for her. Whilst questioning how on earth prosecutor Shim would have found out where they were hiding Myung Soon, Deul Ho figures out that the office’s been bugged. Once he has the witness, chief prosecutor Shim doesn’t waste any time in handing her travel documents and asking her to leave the country.
6. Shin Woo’s sentenced
At the end of his trial, Shin Woo’s found guilty of tax evasion and the attorney-at-law act and is sentenced to 14 months in prison to the dejection of Hae Kyung and Deul Ho. Shin Woo though looks resigned and cracks a joke about this being a way for him to get some much needed rest.
7. The key’s the clue
With his one witness missing and Chairman Jung still unconscious, Deul Ho knows that time is running out and he still hasn’t found something to nab chief prosecutor Shim with. He pulls out a key Il Goo had handed him when he’d been following him in the ambulance, shortly before he died and wonders exactly what it opens, but is stumped. Thankfully, a call from Soo Bin talking about her classes remind him that Il Goo was studying to take his GED. And sure enough, it leads him to Il Goo’s locker from which Deul Ho retrieves a flash drive and fixes it to his computer where he sees as video of chief prosecutor Shim meeting with Chairman Jung. He sees something else that the audience isn’t privy to and pushes away from his seat in anger.
8. Deul Ho shows his hand, says his goodbyes and gets burned
Whilst seething over whatever he saw in the video, Deul Ho receives a call from chief prosecutor Shim who tries to convince him to not show up at the confirmation hearing in exchange for a reduced sentence for Shin Woo. Deul Ho’s not interested in that though. Rather he’s interested in talking about Il Goo. He asks chief prosecutor Shim if he doesn’t have something to confess about Il Goo. Chief prosecutor Shim, alarmed, asks to meet (never a good idea Deul Ho!). Deul Ho flashing back to the different times prosecutor Shim has threatened to kill him should he proceed down his path begins to say goodbyes, starting with Dae Soo and Ae Ra, then Hae Kyung and Soo Bin. Once he’s done, he heads to the meeting point and is instead met with a knife in the gut, wielded by a man he recognizes as the driver responsible for hitting Il Goo.
9. Chief prosecutor Shim’s confirmation hearing gets crashed
The morning after, is D-day for chief prosecutor Shim and he walks into the hall ready for business. Team Jo Deul Ho anxiously check their watches, waiting for him to appear with the congressman glancing at the seat marked ‘witness’, wondering where Deul Ho’s at. Chief prosecutor Shim takes the mic and straight up lies when he’s asked questions regarding his interactions with Chairman Jung. He claims to not have had anything to do with the man and that he has not participated in anything illegal. When the congressman is asked where the witness is, Jo Deul Ho appears, very much alive. Yippee! Chief prosecutor Shim is shocked, whilst we’re thrilled that Deul Ho survived.
10. Jo Deul Ho pulls his ace in a hole
Deul Ho provides the slush fund list and presents it to the house when he’s called to testify. He lists out the three names most repeated and points them to be people who have personal relationships with Chief Prosecutor Shim. When asked if the claim is true, Chief Prosecutor Shim denies it, referring them back to the fact that Deul Ho was fired for taking bribes from Chairman Jung. Chief Prosecutor Shim is resting pretty, thinking he’s pulled it all off until Deul Ho brings out a supporting witness: Chairman Jung, who although he can’t speak can use his eyes and nods in answer to the question. His testimony is enough to get people talking, but wily Chief Prosecutor Shim insists that it’s all a frame up, even when the video showing Micheal Jung’s dumping of the homeless man is provided. All seems lost until Deul Ho provides the final video – the recording Il Goo had collected that showed Chief Prosecutor Shim gratefully accepting a million dollars to have Il Goo tragically die in a car accident. Chief Prosecutor Shim’s shocked face is particularly satisfying.
Character I wanted to bitch slap:
For causing the death of Il Goo and not even looking remorseful. Forget bitch slap, I want to punch him till he’s a bloody pulp on the ground. Jerkwad!
Headache inducing moment:
Because nothing ever goes wrong when the baddie calls you to a secluded place for a drop off point. I kept screaming at Deul Ho to get the hell out of dodge! It might be pretty but it doesn’t mean that you might not die there. Turns out I was right. About the stabbing part, not the dying part. He survived, thank heavens!
This episode’s a satisfying glass of red wine. Soothing and relaxing as we all lean back, rubbing our hands together as we wait for the epic downfall that was waiting for Chief Prosecutor Shim. His shocked face at the end of the proceeding, was the crowning on the cake. Pure awesomeness this episode! Awesomeness and I just know the next episode will be even better!
